My DSM 450 install with a sneak peak (56K ????)
I just installed my DSM 450's, didnt have soldering skills so I used wire connectors ;) Tell me if this looks like I did it right.
When I put the 450's in, i just put a lil vasoline around the o-rings and put em in the fuel rail, and put em in place. They look like they have a little bit of space between the mani and injector, but i bolted down the fuel rail as much as i can, so I'm assuming its ok. ??? The 1st injector in place in the rail Little bit of vasoline will help them SLIDEEEE on in ;) See the space between the injector and mani? Is that normal? Wiring the clips and resistors up All done, just need to wrap them bitches up in electorical tape tomorrow A lil peak at the progress...(Yes i kno the mani is gay and says turbo on it, but i have a 2 year warranty on it, so deal with it :P ) Looks nice dont it We ( as in buddy Adam hmt name 1SloSC2 and his dude Brandon)got all the charge piping done and welded, turbo, mani, fmic mounted, injectors in 8), ecu and harness installed, ac taken out , just need to run the oil lines, tap the oil pan, install the gauges and make the downpipe, hopefully it will all be done tomorrow |

See, you didn't need any help. :)

Not bad. Setup is looking good and I bet you can't wait to rip on it 8) Oh yeah, those injectors are fine. They will look like they aren't in all the way but they don't leak. I noticed the same on my install.

I don't think my 450s stuck out like that, did you make sure you tightened the fuel rail down like you had a pair? be careful not to strip the studs though, I made that mistake and had to cut one of my fuel rail's nuts off.

If you practice soldering, you can be a pro in like 2 minutes. It'd be worth the time and $5 for a radio nutsac 30w. |

all that matters is if they are sealed. ;)

Re: My DSM 450 install with a sneak peak (56K ????)
omg the pics are great...
loving the butt connectors and vasiline =) |
Re: My DSM 450 install with a sneak peak (56K ????)
It seems like everybody who doesn't bore the seals out ends up with that space. I'm sure it's fine though.........

I just used oil to lube mine up... 'cause I had that sitting around...
But hey, if you have vasoline handy, then might as well use it right? The injectors don't have to be all the way in there, they are just a hair shorter than the stock injectors, as long as the seal is tight and the rail is on there good, you should be good to go! |
Re: My DSM 450 install with a sneak peak (56K ????)
Nice use of the vasoline and i give you an A for color Coordination.

Yea. I was beginning to wonder that now, too. So really you don't have to dremel it out any? Just get some KY and slide 'em? :P Seriously though, you can serious keep it like that and then use petrolieum jelly ::) to slide them in and they work? Why would you dremel if that works then? JP |

Re: My DSM 450 install with a sneak peak (56K ????)
What's the big deal with boring the seals out? I bored my stock 145K seals out with sand paper masking taped to a drill and my injectors sit flush and perfect.
|
Re: My DSM 450 install with a sneak peak (56K ????)
agreed i bored mine out with a dremel sanding barrel on my old setup. took like 4 minutes a piece if that.
|
Re: My DSM 450 install with a sneak peak (56K ????)
i have never bored them out, i always just tighten them down in, they always sit just fine.
|
Re: My DSM 450 install with a sneak peak (56K ????)
The Butt connectors wont affect anything with the resistors there?
|
Re: My DSM 450 install with a sneak peak (56K ????)
yeah whats so hard about boring out the seals? its not like it takes a long time. if it works i guess its coo then ;)

what do u mean? how would they have tore? |
Re: My DSM 450 install with a sneak peak (56K ????)
those edges are kinda sharp. it happened to me once. i just tightened it down a little more, and twisted the injector
|
Re: My DSM 450 install with a sneak peak (56K ????)
bore out the seals with a dremel or a drill sander thingy magigy and make it fit correctly. just make sure u test fit the injectors as you do it. dont overbore the sucker.

Re: My DSM 450 install with a sneak peak (56K ????)
