it can do Mach 2.34 or 2.34 times the speed of sound, thats not the problem, but i do think travis right in that doing it so low might have been bad espically when he went into that barrel roll which seemed to create its spontaneous combustion
yeah, home boy was flying to close to the dolphins then they used their lasers from on top of their heads and took out a wing.
That would be sharks craka!

Yes that bird should have been able to handle those speeds with no problems.

F-14 TomCats see Mach plus speed under normal usage

Hence the Swing Wings

the problem with those birds is maintence.
for every 12 hours of usage there is 6 hours of work for ground crew to work on(no bad for military vehicale) and if you left a wrench or a rag that turkey its going down. thats called FOD
foriegn object detail. not just for the work but for miscellaneous objects left behinde

NOTE: VF-213 is the squadren Number AKA: Black Lions

what happend. September 21, 1995 video of a F-14 fly-by that goes wrong. The aircraft nearly breaks the sound barrier (you can see the mist forming), then explodes because of what was apparently an engine compression failure. The two pilots, from VF-213 ejected successfully. The carrier battlegroup, with the USS Abraham Lincoln, was 1,400 kilomters(870 miles) west of Guam at the time.

lucky for us we don't explode when you turbo compressor fails.

how the ---- could someone follow it that fast on a home camcorder? -and have it in the center picture the entire time?

ive seen ALOT of harriars/f14, hell even some fast helos and yes they are fast, but to break the sound barrier and video tape it, no way.
