Respectable wife(looks untouched) and good looking house design/floor plan(made the plans yourself?)

Lol, i work on an Oil rig, and she is a chartered accountant. Thanks for the compliments on both her and the house lol.

Yes, we did design it ourselves, well we saw a showhome with a similar living room/kitchen area with the high ceilings and designed a house around it, adding the garage, more rooms upstairs etc.. House is projected to cost $360,000, hopefully we stay in budget, so far so good.

noone ever stay in budget when building a home, it almost always goes over

Smokey 02-09-2008 10:37 PM

Re: My cars new house.....

Well we've got a signed contract and a mortgage for 360k, so that's all our builder gets..It's really a matter of us not going too overboard for upgrades.

And yes, our dollar is approx at par with yours right now. This house is being built about 45 mins from the city, the same house in the city would be 550-600k.

Trust me i'd much rather be buying a 900sqft house in California. We will hopefully be moving to the mountains in British Columbia in a few years, if not somewhere in the southern US, we both hate winter.

The back is full of windows, i assume you mean the side? You would have to see the house from the inside to understand.

As for BC, we want to move to Kelowna, or Osoyoos or somewhere in interior BC, where it doesn't get too cold. Basically i want to live in a retirement community like osoyoos and just relax in the heat. As for the rigs, i don't give a ----, i don't want to be working rigs for more than 1 more year.

I'd be pissed if I had to insulate that house. So many little bullshit pieces.

It's a nice house tho.

Re: My cars new house.....

It all depends. Just like the US, median home price varies alot from City to city, Around Halifax NS, i think avg single family dwelling is 220k, however toronto/vancouver is above 500k. Calgary/Edmonton are in the high 300's right now, this is not for anything fancy, like your average bungalow.

Re: My cars new house.....

Just for a normal sized lot out here you're looking at at least $200k, $250k for a decent lot and closer to $300k for a golf course area lot(the ritzy area). Some of the houses out here right now are selling for less than what the lot they sit on is worth. :S It would be cheaper to buy a house, demolish it and build a new one than it would be to buy an empty lot and build on it. They need to start doing that because some of these houses are retarded. 3 bed/1 bath houses with 1 car garages(if you're lucky)were pretty popular out here about 25 years ago. :l

Really? Land costs that much out in the desert? You'd be sick to your stomach if you knew how much land costs out here, being fertile and nice and what not :X

Where are you at?

Around here for a lot in the city it's about 140k, i paid 30k for my lot. Same thing tho, a golf course/high end lot here is 250-300k

Yeah, realtors did an excellent job of hyping up the market out here. If you can see any part of the lake at any part of the lot they call it a lake view and add $25k to the price because it's just worth that much. :S It's sickening to think about how many people made MILLIONS buying lots for ~$2500-$5k years ago and held onto them to sell for $200k each. :S Nothing is selling now though. Chances are I'll be a meth dealer here in a few months if ---- doesn't change. :S

I dunno about that low, but you can probably get a condo for that cheap. WTF is a bungalow? :P You can get a decent condo here for $100k. You can get a really nice one for about $150k.

If you're curious:
http://www.havasurealtors.com/

There are currently 1742 listings in the 'RESIDENTIAL' database
Scary considering how small this town is. :l

----, we have tons of those, but nobody really wants them. Who the ---- wants to live in a 3bed house with only 1 bathroom? Most of those are on one street and don't sell for ---- because nobody wants to live in the house or on that street(beanerville). :l
