Now here's my project rwd crx... if I ever find a suitable swap (I only make $10 an hour mind you):

It has a mostly full interior. Missing the little piece around the rear view mirror, some of the covers on the seat bolts, a few other odds and ends. The body is in good shape, no major dents just dinged panels. The full interior is in the garage, you can see all the ---- above the tach in my first Civic pic.

Video of it idling and blipping to 3k:

Oh yeah, the crx was $400 no motor, trans, ecu, exhaust.

Good deal on the crx! That thing looks like it's in good shape.

lol dude its a good build looks like it could be a little more pleasing to the eyes but still nice ----.

how long do u think the clutch will last?

Re: My build thread... a year late. 56k eat shit

It holds fine right now, but if I downshift from 5th to 3rd at 50mph if I'm cruising and try to get on it the clutch smokes. So basically it's finished right now, but I can still drive around on it and do rippers and ----.

Re: My build thread... a year late. 56k eat shit

Just drive it around like that until you can afford to change it or it starts smoking it in 5th.

Exactly. And the only 5th gear action the car has seen in a year is passing at 50-70mph. Even at 50 it's easy to pass in 5th, damn it feels good to have enough torque to move ^-^.When I get a couple fat summer checks in I'll hook it up with an lsd clutch and either a light flywheel or have my stock one cut down to 11ish.

your avatar is still gay but alot better than it was .. props on the build ... p.s. get a bigger turbo 11 psi on a 14b is far from turnin ya out on a forged bottom end ...you need to buy that 20g in the f.s. section :y

i was talking to a guy at the machine shop and he said youre better of buying afermarket one becouse factory ones are like 1,0000000000000000000 pounds to start with and it would cost just as much as a new flywheel to have it lightend to that low of a wieght..

I hear you on the 20g. Before I get into that I need to figure out this JAW once and for all, then wire up my 4bar, possibly purchase an Ectune license, get a clutch, then go to town on upping the boost. I've spiked 18psi before while trying to get my ching chong ebc working... that put the fear of God in me >:D

i have a jaw, its really simple once you actually mess with it.

Re: My build thread... a year late. 56k eat shit

I never could get the grounding to work right. I have it grounded at the thermostat with my ecu and there is still an offest between the jaw ground and the ecu ground, so there is a potential difference. I dunno, I never figured it out. My ------- car runs like tits though untuned. The plugs look perfect and there's no detonation.

god that setup is shitty, ghetto, and cheap. exactly why i love this site.

:) It's getting body work and either rustoleum gloss white or rustoleum gloss black. The crx I'm doing in satin black, if I ever find a heart for it.

What kind of muffler is that? It sounds nice and shitty, just the way I like a good exhaust to sound.

built engine for a 14b? lol

Re: My build thread... a year late. 56k eat shit

3" Magnaflow, full 3" exhaust the only other thing in the piping is a 3" gutted cat. The dsm bov's are on either side of the intercooler behind the bumper. One of these days when I get enough balls to run a ton of boost I'll do the Dodge Garage mod on the bov's to allow them to hold more boost, but open more slowly (hence 2 of them).

I built the engine so that I would never have to crack it open again until 400+whp unless something broke.

Edit: For my crx I'm thinking of this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-S...spagenameZWDVW
280hp approx, awd should be fun to play with. Decent engine size, I don't really need a 2.5L. For a rear end probably a whole 240sx/subie subframe or something like that. The biggest issues I see coming are the wideass boxer engine fitting in the crx engine bay and making hybrid front axles and driveshaft and all that ----. I'm thinking crx cv ends on shortened (most likely) subie axles for the fronts.

Please don't molesterize that CRX :8 O0 :3

You could throw a junkyard D in it, tie up the odds and ends and then turn around and sell it for a profit so you can buy a real turbo for your civic.

I am the molesterer. It will put the tprc to shame... mark my words.

Well I picked up my rear end from the junkyard today. They told me I was pretty much an idiot for pulling a whole rear end on my own with hand tools, but it only took a half hour including the time it took to scrounge around for a pipe to use as a breaker bar. Complete minus break calipers, but I'll have to figure out what I'm going to do about that... rigged up Si rear calipers or 240sx calipers... hmm.

Attachment 17166

93 240sx coupe rear, S13 gen. Not as fancy as an S14 I suppose but stronger than an s2k or subie rear diff.

Re: My build thread... a year late. 56k eat shit

Okay.. so I'm wanting to keep it Honda powered now and I have a D laying around.. so I've got an idea. What if I take the 240 rear and flip the carrier 180* around the axis of the input shaft (like flip it upside down, the pass output would now be the drivers and vice versa) thus making it turn backwards in essence. Now with the D and a trans I mount it longitudinally with the timing side up front and the transaxle (locked up of course) pointed to the firewall and I have a driveshaft made using the cv axles. The problem I see with this is having the driveshaft with the cv end popping out of the transmission, but if I drill out the splined end and have the hole tapped and have the cv on the other end drilled put and plugged into the other side of the trans and run a big bolt through the diff and the cv's. Sounds complicated probably... but I'm just wondering what you guys would think. Don't tell me to just mid mount the D.. I don't want to do that. The motor would sit off center toward the passenger side mounted like this if the driveshaft were centered, but the weight would be balanced by me sitting in the driver seat. I've made some measurements and a Z6 from timing cover to nose of the trans is roughly 36", 30" from timing cover to the tops of the plugs. I measured the bay of the crx and it would be 30" from the firewall to the hood latch. I thought about mounting the D trans up front and timing cover to the firewall but the trans would either stick out into the bumper or the engine would be under the dash... not what I'm looking for.

Re: My build thread... a year late. 56k eat shit

After thinking about it while playing metroid prime corruption I've thought of two problems. There would be a ton of load on one side of the spool/transmission for one. Then there's the gearing. 4.06 rear end, DX fd 3.8 Si fd 4.2. Bone, got any ideas? I would have to gear it up to get more speed per gear, right?

Not doable...
