well... heres a pic of the finished bar.

I ended up going with 5/8" heims, i know it probably over kill but thats all i had a the shop to go test with so thats what i'll be using. it should hold up very good.

The swedge tie rods are gonna look like this

After i fully test this bar out i will probably make a limited few for sale in the $150-175 range... I'm not in it to make major loot, but as a means to earn some cash for forged goodies.

stay tuned...

Edit: as a response to some of the people that thought the notch i made would weaken the bar. i notched it about 1/4" in a "v" shape and then dropped a peice of angle iron in and welded it up. i don't think it will effect the integrity of the bar. Key work, "think," we'll find out shortly. ;D

Re:my attempt at DIY traction bar...

this is a pic of the bar mounted with out the tie bars. If you look closely you can see my front right tire in the background. so as far as clearance there should be no probs... it sits almost flush with the radiator core support.

i'll let you know as soon as i get my tie rods in and mounted up... then i'll start building more. i'm probably gonna do no more than 5 total. it takes a good amount of time and labor to make these... and i don't see myself being able to produce more than 5 in a sufficient manner, due to my work and school. so you'll be first in line to buy my first one.

thanks
