Muffler question

Okay i have been researching quite a bit about which muffler to use on my Honda. Something to make it as quiet as possible with the 3" exhaust, it has killed too many brain cells.

A muffler shop suggested i go with a Magnaflow muffler because they have a straight through design and surprisingly muffle the noise very well. They also told me I should go with a round design because its an import, what is the significance of this?

Also, i noticed that the smaller diameter mufflers are more expensive. why is this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Muffler question

as far as i know flowmaster sucks for turbo... I had the delta 60 on mine, and when i took it off the turbo spooled started to spool 1000 rpms earlier, and hit full boost faster...

However if you dont care about spool time, then the flowmaster dose give a good tone, and sound quality

I like my flowmaster, but like said before it kills spool time. Im gona do the throttle body cut out too. I only saw about a 500 rpm differance jwhith the exhaust on, but taht was only at 12ish lbs though. Im sure with 20+ psi it would make a huge bottle neck.

I was afraid that was the reason why he suggested it.

Looks like you guys are divided between the Flowmaster and the summit turbo muffler. Shouldn't the summit one be quieter since it has that glass insulation junk as opposed to the Flowmaster which is just a large chamber.

summit turbo is more of a pipe and baffle, and not just a fancy baffle. its the hmt full-body muffler of choice, next to thrush turbos

Re: Muffler question

a-ford-able muffler once again backs Magnaflow as being the quietest. they said Brad wasn't there and doesn't come there very often anymore. His son was there and he did not recognize Jay. I'll just buy a Summit... its like 30 bucks anyway.

Chambered mufflers for forced induction are a restriction.

Magnaflow welded ultra-flo for sixty-five dollars, Alex.

As a russian, I expect you to get this wrong.

what did they quote you?

Re: Muffler question

They didn't even have anything for a 3" pipe. So I told them I would get it elsewhere.

A sign outside says $50.00 mufflers. So I guess they charge a flat rate for all mufflers.
