Motorcycle Gurus - Have some questions, Answers Please!

Prelude:
Alright right now I own 2 cars mainly to have a backup incase one breaks down or blows. They have served there purpose because Ive blown up both of them and had the other to depend on while the engines were swapped out. But iam thinking its time to have one car and get a motorcycle as a backup for economic reasons since in the state of Florida I dont have to have insurance on a bike. So now I have some questions since I dont know ---- about bikes.
Nitty Gritty:
1.Alright Iam a big guy 6'4" & 300 lbs. so I want to know what is the smallest engine that will get me going or get the job done, iam thinking 400-500cc or better.
2.Also what is a good bike that will be reliable like the honda cars I own, I would naturally look for honda bikes but my buddy owns a yamaha and swears by them. So what bike brand is most reliable and cheap/easy to fix.
3.Not looking for brand new bike really just looking to spend around $3,000. Already done some searching and looked at some honda shadows, nighthawks, and interceptors. I dont care if its a sports or cruiser bike as long as it meets the above criteria

Any and All feedback is appreciated, especially if you own or work on bikes and are non-bias toward one brand over another unless you have valid reasoning.

no riding experience but i was looking at CBR bikes nice and sporty but little closer if not over $3,000 range. might be a good bike even though i dont have experience, i dont want to out grow a bike quickly just to learn how to ride. how reliable are they, whats a good mileage range to look for, parts cheap, easy to rebuild and any more info you have on CBR's would be appreciated?

imput from orginal post still appreciated

thanks

so i guess if i get a bike that "fits" me it will have to be a cruiser or a larger street bike that probably outside my budget. If you have suggestions on what type of bike would be good for a person my size, holla
thank you

if you are going to get a street bike and havent ridden motorcycles before learn how to ride on a dirt bike before buying it. Its easier to learn on and most mistakes you make wont require surgury youll be able to handle bad situations better also
