Motor swap carnage

So steve and I got into the seccond swap tonight. just a Z6 into a Del sol.

The kid said that he had a spun bearing. He didn't know anything about the history of the car. he just said that it wouldn't start, he changed oil and plugs and it started up with the knock.

we changed the oil and found metal in the drained oil, so we were hoping for something good when we pulled the pan.

This is what we found.

did he buy that car with the jacked up engine or someting?

Re: Motor swap carnage

he said that he knew there was "something" wrong with it.

He bought it without looking under the hood b/c the latch was broken. I don't know what he payed for it, but I hope not much.

The body looked okay, but the engine bay looked like it was a flood vehicle. corosion over everything, and everything was rusted to hell.

So whats gonna happen?

This motor got yanked in favour of a z6?

Re: Motor swap carnage

Yankd and my old Z6 put in it. That was just the motor that we pulled out.

There where no signs of a turbo or notrous kit on the car. So I am not sure what the deal was.

He said that he had an oil light and a CEL. The oil thing was obviously caused by the girdle being destroyed. The hole in the block was right behind the PS pump, so it was hard to see on the initial inspection.

You mean behind the power steering pump. :P

This car sounded nasty, and when it was time to pull the pan it didn't let us down. More parts for the KArnAg3 bucket. I was impressed for an all motor stock z6.

you had to take the oil pan off to notice the penny sized hole behind the a/c bracket?
