He's right, the best d series is the d16z6. The y8 (next generation d series) has a better head flowing but that is debateable. I would keep your d16 and rebuild it the way you want it to be. Meaning, compression, n/a, turbo, supercharged, and nos will be the way to guide you to your build. Goodluck with your project.

a Z6 with SRP pistons, eagle rods, arp head studs and 15 pounds of boost would be the only suitable replacement

That is exactly the setup I was going to use for my del sol turbo project. 9:1 compression srp pistons. Good call.

yea my friend and i are converting his type-r coupe to dpfi within the next few days. We have to go out and find a manifold from a std hatch so we can swap the manifolds. Then we will pry run a 2 stage nitrous kit on the dpfi. it should run good.
