what about a strategicly placed heatgun? i don't know how that stuff "dries" though, it might mess it up.

hair dryer, fireplace, space heater, etc... anything warm should help I would guess.

Throw it in the oven. It will help keep the house warm, and give you a little holiday scent as well. ;)

It actually smells quite good.... like chocolate

mmmmm chocolate....

well i got it cause it was urethane, it was black, and it was made for harsh enviroments... but i never knew it wouls take forever to dry... at the rate its drying it looks like it will take a week or so...

should have just bought the ------- inserts... damn im such a cheap bastard...

Re:Motor Mounts Wont Dry

From the stuff I have seen for roofs, it doesn't exactly dry to a hard product. The stuff I seen is like styrofoam. Maybe it's different stuff?

Re:Motor Mounts Wont Dry

i used it before... just not to fill the whole mount.... it dries pretty good... kinda rubbery... but its just taking way to ------- long.....

Might just go out tommorow and buy a food dehydrator and put it in there for a while...

Re:Motor Mounts Wont Dry

I use 3m windo-weld. About 9.99 a tube.. 1.5 tube will do a civic. ---- dries in about 24 hours to a pretty stiff rubber consistancy. been there on my old Accord for 3 years now and even rescued some of my ---- ass split mounts!

i didnt take a pics, but after that i trimmed the dried excess off with a sharp knife and it looked purdy just like the dogbone front mount up top. a lot cheaper than 300 bucks of new mounts! notable increase in interior vibration, but whatever :)

Re:Motor Mounts Wont Dry

Just keep heating it up and then cooling it right after... check on the bottle of the stuff you bought for more information.. u ready for the interior vibrations? why didnt u tell me u needed a mount.. i had an extra good condition one or 10

So i just urethane my mounts and they are as good as new?

traff1c 12-23-2003 12:54 AM

Re:Motor Mounts Wont Dry

I dont know about good as new... maybe better than new... depends on how you look at it... mine was broken.. so i was getting mad wheel hop when i took off.... so im stiffening it solid.. now it shouldnt move... but theres gonna be a hell of a lot more noise coming from your interior trim.... coin in the ashtray...etc etc... but who needs all that ----?

Re:Motor Mounts Wont Dry

Well if its roofing ---- its probably butyl rubber. They dont use silicone for roofing couse it deteriorates.......that chocolaty smells comfirms its rubber and not silicone.

I used tub and tile silicone for mine and it dried solid in like 48hrs.

Hard mounts don't vibrate too bad if you're balanced... Oh yeah, but balancing is for pussies. :P

Well about a week later and that bitch finally dried enough to be put back in the car,....

I had been driving all carefull and ---- like an old lady.... cuz i didnt want to break anything....

I bet the insides still all gushy.... so i hope it doesnt burst and come out squirting like a jelly donut....

Re:Motor Mounts Wont Dry (update)

Well took it for a test drive and it ------- feels so much better now.... no wheel hop.... smoother shifting... and no bogging on gear change.... and the tires chirp again...

and all this for just fixing 1 mount....
