mobile audio gurus...

ok, so i dont know ---- about mobile audio. however, i am curious as to whether or not something would work or not. i will probably be purchasing a laptop in the near future for school. i also plan on using this laptop to tune my car with turboedit + datalogging.

i am wondering if i can have my laptop serve one more use. since the laptop will be able to play mp3s and dvds, would it be possible to have the sound play on my car stereo? any ideas on how this could be possible? it seems to me that i could take an audio output from the laptop to an amplifier or whatever audio device. sorry, as i have stated earlier, i dont know ---- about stereo systems. what i do know is that my tape player sucks donkey ---- and i want to replace it.

The easiest way if you're going to get a new deck is to get one that has an Aux input. Then you can hook up anything you want, be it laptop or whatever. The other way is to get an FM modulator, basically, it goes inline with the antenna and you tune the radio to whatever preset station and whatever source you have plugged into the FM Mod will come through the deck. Usually the sound isn't really diminshed or anything like that, but a true Aux input would be a better option. ;)

are there any low price decks with an aux input(less than $300) that you would recommend?

Theres tons out there that are under $300. I have a Pioneer Premeir DEH-P750 that has an aux input. Almost every brand has one or two models with input. Just go with whatever brand that floats your boat, but I would recomend that you stay away from Sony, their mobile audio is in the pooper with all of this Xplod crap.

Yeah, unfortunately, my s/n has nothing to do with Xplod Mobile Audio, I had this name way before Xplod! I really hate that people associate my name with that crap, but its kinda like Michael Bolton from Office Space, why should I change my name, Bolton is the douchbag! Oh well. PC Load Letter!?!? What the ----? Ah, ----, I need a jump to conclusions mat.

Yeah like he said just get a edck with an aux input, I would recommend alpine. I would never use any thing else. Not a lot of the have aux inputs but get one that the modle starts with CDA these are the ai net capable units. Then you can buy a ai net audio input cable or just any cable that will plug into the ai net port such as a cd changer cable and you can make one from that easily, or I'll make one for you for like 10 bucks. but Alpine rocks, and I gonna have to disagree and say that fm modulators suck shnuts.
