Mega Squirt and a big turbo :yThen start looking for a back up tranny as its a Mitsubishi.I love those things but they are hard to find.Another good plan would involve a LS1,big T4 and Ford 9".

Re: Mitsubishi starion

actually im going to provide a little bit of input.

the first major thing you should do is rpelace the jet vilve head for one that doesnt use jet valves. replacing the valves or cancling them out does nothing since its the casting thats the problem. once you change the head, you need to start looking at fieling. fueling will be your biggest ocncern as your only runing a dpfi setup. some people dont worry about this and simply make 300 hp and call it a day. i for one would like to have mpfi, so get a manifold made up. other than that, the aitrflow meter is iffy,. but dont worry about it. the thing is, those blocks are amazingly stout, and dont be surised iof you make more torque than hp. i once had a buddy with a "flat sided" starion that made like 250 whp and like 340 some whp tq. it was insane. o well. fix those problems and you will have a nice street machine. also keep everythiong on the body ntact, no bodykits. also their intercoolers are pretty dang good, so an intercooler upgrade isnt really necessary untill you go really insane with the boost.

The 2.6 motor is junk. Weak internals and ---- heads on top of the useless throttlebody injection.
Get a DSM 4g63 instead.

Re: Mitsubishi starion

Is the 4g63 just a direct swap in?

baldur 03-31-2006 06:40 PM

Re: Mitsubishi starion

These cars were available with 4G63BT in europe, but the block is slightly different from the DSM block apparently. I'm not sure what the difference is but it isn't a big difference. These cars had the same transmission apparently as the 2.6 cars but were just a bit quicker!

if the internales are soo weak than why are they able to run 400+ whp withought modifying them? change out the dpfi and get a new head that doesnt have jet valves and your good to go. get a megasquirt.

Re: Mitsubishi starion

i might be picking one up soon. and why dont you just use the caravan head with the turbo parts. or be the first to swap in a honda motor http://www.g-forcetransmissions.com/tran_gf5r-rev.asp if i was to do a swap i would go v8 if not just fix the problems that the stock motor has and get a bigger turbo

kain 04-05-2006 09:59 AM

Re: Mitsubishi starion

why would you swap in a 4g63? i would leave the 2.6 liter lump in there man. just get a new head casting, and switch over to dpfi and youll be straight. o and the 4g63 engine boltrs to the starion tranny just fine.
