Re:military topic guys, Kind of long but need your input
I'm in the Army Reserves and as far as paying for college goes they do an excellent job, 20,000 student loan repayment, 100% tuition payment, drill pay like 170$ a month, and 635$ a month gibill money for being full time student. Also they hooked my up with an awesome job/MOS 91V respitory therapist, make like 20$ an hour working at a local hospital, so yeah I would say it was worth joining. Also depending on how much delayed time you have, you can become an E3 before you goto basic, I think its like a 400$ a month difference from E1 so it would be worth it to try.

Sounds to me like you are a great candidate for AF....
School is easy, if you have an easy major, but once you get out with a stupid Com degree or Lib Arts what the heck will you do? If you arent motivated to move into a certain area of work then save yourself some money, move to a University City and dont enroll and just party with everyone.
I went through 6 years of almost hell with a 20-30% pass rate (out of 136 students in 1st year only 18 graduated) to get my Professional degree, and a carpet cleaner at the Holiday Inn makes more cash then me right now (stupid friggen Union jobs), good thing Im not in it for the cash.
I think the armed forces would teach you some good motivation and open your horizions while still offering you a bit of a saftey net, let you party a bit and teach you how to get ---- done, who knows you may just get out with a great job...
My fiance's Cousin just got out of the Air Force where he worked as an intel guy, flew around all day in a 737 listening to terriorists screaming on the radio...learned Farsi and Arabic, now the FBI, and some private security firms are pretty much in a damn bidding war to hire him.
From what I hear the Air Force is the place to be, best housing/pay/training and the motto is...."send the officers to die"...meaning usually you get a cushy station far away from the shooting
Just dont mistake the Armed Services for an Adult Day Care with guns....like anything if you dont apply yourself you end up scrubbing ********, their is great opportunity, as long as you try to take advantage of it

I know they make a lot more concessions for people who score high.

as far as pay, well, there is no difference between the branches, and dont let anyone tell you different. they all go by the E or O system. You will start out as a E-1 or a E-2. I started as an E-4 and after 3.5 years, i am now an E-4, but my job promotes slow, im a Radio Operator.
-and as far as bonsus, make sure they are in your contract BEFORE you get on that bus to go to boot camp. -and contracts only work for certain jobs.
like i said, if you want any info, i could talk your ear off and tell you the truth of what is to be known, not what you wanna hear, like the recruiters tell you.

If your gonna go, go reserves. I was in the exact same boat as you and went. I would rather be a happy trashman than putting up with that ----. That was my experience though.
Going to the military was the worst thing I ever did in life, and I'm not sure if I could ever top it. I learned from it though.
