Want engine shots? Humvees are cool until you are in the military and have to drive and look at em all day. Those do look nice and new.

Odd note, at drill today noticed that our wrecker has the same turbo as my car. :) Holset H1C

depends..... most are 6.2 and later 6.5L NA but the most recent uparmored ones being sent to Iraq are 6.5L turbo diesels. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I could buy a de-mil'd Humvee from where I work if I wanted to. Dod ships in some of the slightly older ones and we either strip em down or repair the equipment in them. If they're not worth fixing, we have a chance to buy 'em. Last I heard about $13,000 could get ya one in really good shape, only downside is the DOT will not let them be driven on the roads. :P

I heard the latest generation are? I know my unit doesn't have any but line units in Iraq that are pulling thousands of lbs of armor perhaps?

well i mean anyone can see them as its going down the road and if anyone REALLY wanted to see one up close they could find a way to get one. They would lock them or cover them if we couldn't see them. Hell were civilians and we drove them.

I'm a 63B (All Wheel Vehicle Mechanic) in the Army. Yes, the m99x series do have a turbo option. Most 6.5L are N/A. I hear the armored ones are getting turbos. I'm unsure as our unit doesn't have any armored ones here. They are all in Iraq in use. But yes, they do turbo the humvees.

refering to the comment reguarding the pics, yes, anyone can walk up and check out a hummvee. However not anyone can hop on the internet and grab the detailed pics. There are a few things in those pics which someone might wanna know about....

id appreciate it if someone could remove the pics.

as a terrorist myself id like to thank the op for posting the pictures, we couldnt ffigure out what the hummers looked like upclose and personal without your valuable help.. even tho there are hundreds of thousands of pictures and videos all showing the hummer and its components A to Z including a civilian version of teh car which is very simular to the militarized version, it was your pictures alone that helped us figure it out.

thanks!

your freindly neighborhood terrorisst.
