from michigan to alabama.

Why are you moving to the southern armpit of the nation? (Flint being the northern armpit)

alabama is the worst state i have ever had the opportunity to live in. i spent 8 months at FT rucker while my dad was in flight school, and people say West VA is redneck :S

I'm up in Florence and Jorsher is in Huntsville which are about an hour away. It's not as bad as people say. There are definitely a bunch of retarded rednecks, but stick to the city and you usually avoid them.

Re: from michigan to alabama.

Huntsville seemed decent when I was there, but Birmingham is a pesthole. Enjoy the rutted interstates 20 and 65. Enjoy the traffic and the industrial wasteland.

Re: from michigan to alabama.

I lived in Columbus, GA previously which is on the edge of Georgia/Alabama, and I can vouch that alabama is worse the further south you get. Huntsville and the surrounding NORTHERN areas aren't nearly as hickish as you'd imagine (Pheonix City has Huntsville beat with the number of trailer parks, yet it's much smaller), as Doug said, just stick to the cities.

JD hit the nail on the head with Birmingham being a festering rut of AIDS. I've visited much worse cities, but it doesn't make this one any crappier. Traffic sucks balls, people can't drive, most the roads are cracking and shitty, it does have some nice areas but most of it looks like a rundown post-industrial city. Add Highway 280 to the list of shitty roads in Birmingham. ------- lights all up and down the street, try visiting it during rush hour.

Why are you moving and what part are you moving to? Birmingham has some nice areas, but the traffic there sucks ass. Plenty of ricers and shady nogs to steal your crap too.

i live 20min north of the ham. birmingham is a city of god damned ------s. with a population of only about 250,000 it is the 4th most dangerous city in america. do not live in birmingham... live in the burbs or country surrounding a city.

alabama's nice, but the large cities are all ------s. even the mexican's moved out to live with the white people. south alabama isn't alabama. it's an extinsion of the gutter trash that is northern florida, not to be confused with the rest of florida AKA cuba. neither are apart of the south...

the worst i've been too are:
Lousiana: The continuation of the 7th layer of hell known as Mississippi (thank god for mississippi)
Atlanta (altho it's relatively clean for yankee-negro-ville, and has porn shops. thank you bible belt!)
NY
NJ
everything in a 30 mile radius of burlington
massachusetts: learn to enunciate your own god damned state's name you stupid mother fuckers and your lame ass gun laws - go get a rope
SF -- i stepped off the plane, never see a real fag in my life... was greeted by three of them with a flower. wtf? how'd yall let this ---- happen?
LA
Oakland
i would include the rest of commiefornia, but i've never been to the nice area's & moutians i keep hearing about.
south bend & practically the rest of michiana extending to chicago, frankly... most of ID IN MI i've stayed at. its boring, too many ------s, and the people somehow are presumptuously prickish, tho they don't have ---- because they live in the middle of nothing special?

and kentucky, "worlds most boring place". Jesus Christ i took a girl from cullman mother ------- county alabama to a POD kiss aerosmith concert in kentucky. even that bitch drunkenly looked at the dominoe's pizza manager in the face and said, "i'm from cullman county alabama, and this is the most boring place ive ever seen. what do yall do!?". hillarious
same trip where we paid our shoney's waitress after driving from 2am, (it's maybe 9-10am, we've been up since 6am the day before) she turns to the gay host and says, " they must be from texas", speaking of the accent. ofcorse im wearing a university of Alabama hat, and she's wearing a pink UA halter top............ boy they make'em real smart in kentucky...

basically if it snows there i hate it anyway on the basis of cold sucks, snow sucks.

michigan_soler get ready for 95*F @ 90% humidity and 105*F @ 50% cause that's our august. Not quite as bad as Florida... On the flip side it's only snowed 5 times in my life, and stuck to the ground thrice. ofcorse one of those was 12-18" and it buried us lmao. alabama use to own 3 road salting trucks... they kept them at the beaches to move the sand around nice and pretty.

the good news is that it won't be cold christmas hah

where are you at in around birmingham.you want to be south (hoover, vestavia, homewood, etc.) or north (gardendale & farther out) so there's no ------s.

Re: from michigan to alabama.

Yeah the south side of B'ham is better. My ex had moved to Columbiana/Calera and we would drive into the south of B'ham on the weekends. There is plenty to do and there are some really nice areas. There wasn't too many O0 in the places we went. Better learn the times to travel though. I'm not sure what it's like around the mourning, but in the afternoon from about 3-6 you aren't going anywhere. Friday and Saturday nights you might as well be prepared to sit in your car longer than anything else and unless your downtown stuff is ------ out too far to walk.

Out of all the towns/cities I've been to I would say Huntsville is probably the best with Florence second. Florence is pretty much a college town and Huntsville is perfect if your in the engineering field.

Where are you at toys?

Re: from michigan to alabama.

Soler, just curious why you're moving here? I've seen quite a few michigan and ohio people moving to this area.

Like toysrme said, if you're gonna live around Birmingham, live outside of the city. I've only been to Gardendale and didn't see much, but it definitely seemed like a better place than bham. I recommend moving as far north as possible if you're going to live in AL. Hville has it's shitty area like every other city, but overall it's pretty clean, and if you happen to be the engineering type, it's number 1 in USA for number of engineering jobs and number 2 for the size of it's research park.

Re: from michigan to alabama.

ugh columbiana is a festering meth lab for god's sake don't live there. i was bagnin this ultra rich 17->18yo earlier this year and she kept taking me to some pretty divy places. when she went psycho i called her dad and let him know alll about it bawahaha. plus her uncle was a small time judge. im sure there was a raid at some point haha...
dude best ---- your date movie theater ever is the one in pelham. oh my god nobody is ever there and it's cheap as dirty panties from a carnie.

35117 Mount Olive. It's a burb of Gardendale. About the only thing of note here is Gray Rock ORV. Just out in the country.

i've rocked afew chicks from the rocket city in my day. ;) it's a nice place. see, i just like it here because i'm 20-25 minutes from anything i want. hardcore country, hardcore african american city for supplies. i can get south of town without massive traffic (minus rush hour on I65 in 'ham, which i typically avoid by not getting on it altogether) which means you can hit up all the GOOD malls galleria, summit, brookwood) rare at my 24 but sometimes a date needs something..., all the better restraunts, bars, movies, etc.

i like the country around gadsden, i have alot of family there. it's gorgeous. especially the river. it's clean as everything (because you're upstream of the trash) and it's almost always silky smoothe. ill probably move there at some point im sure.

Oh ya, one of the few good things about being in the greater birmingham area is that i once read there are more medical professionals per person than any other place on earth by a wide margin.

Jorsher i know alot of middle age & older michiana people moving down here. one old couple goes back and forth seasonally. hah guess they just don't like the winters? one guy told me it was because they were driving back from PCB and had a tire blow out. guy at the gas station called the guy at the tire place & they just gave him a used tire to get back on and nobody would take any money for it.

Re: from michigan to alabama.

AFA the places, just stay out of the ghetto's. stay out of them and birmingham in the day is okay. anything around 5-points SOUTH and UAB downtown they try to religiously keep free of ------s at night because they DONT want to piss the white night time biz off.
obviously hoover/homewood/vestavia/brookwood have a very nice nightlife. that's where yall were. "over the mountian".

plus all the nice housing, apartments, greeks for UAB run between 5-points south and brookwood/vestavia hills. so you can always find a chick to mac on for a place to crash if you really can't drive :6 :y

Re: from michigan to alabama.

Yeah the place we use to go was Irondale. Columbiana was horrible, I would have never lived there. I had no idea it was a big meth lab though. If I had to live there I would have shot my self though.

Re: from michigan to alabama.

really? ---- we went to party with some of her and her other rich friends in a trailer park one time. you could smell the ---- cooking afew trailers down. went to an apartment building this other time and mother fucker had more ---- in that place than i've ever seen. i didn't even know what half that ---- was. ugh its a slum.

irondale is descent but too many ------s for my tastes.
