metal synergies?

wat?

my friend and I are discussing how I am going to turbo my car, and I told him that with a good parts (new or slightly used bottom end and head) that I can make quite a bit of power no sweat, nothing breaking 200whp of course, just 150-175 I figure.. the motor is a sohc 1.5 toyota engine, with a compression of 8.5-9:1, if I get it tuned properly (standalone even) that I should have no problems..

he suddenly whips out "but alot of things need ot change but now your also loking at metal synergies and what not as well certain metal materials friction etc"

so im like, holy ----, plutonium too?

where is my wannabe dork (he's actually quite the ricer i would say, spends his time on team integra, has a DC2 show car) going with this? I know that i'm sure it plays a part, in a methanol funny car engine, but really?

imo, just do it and see where you end up. If you make 150-160 hp on the stock motor thats almost doubling the base HP. That in and of itself ought to speak to the capabilities of any NA motor + a turbo and someone with some ingenuity.

yeah exactly

i guess where he was going is if i planned on making huge power, i guess he is somewhat right.

oh dude, the stock power to the wheels right now is like 60whp if im lucky..

i'll be tripling the power :D
