A matter of opinion, please.

I have a conundrum of sorts. So, I need some opinions. Since I have started to go the boosted route, I will no longer need my DC 4-2-1 header. I have a guy that is offering to trade me a front bumber for the header. I want to get rid of the header and I was thinking about getting a different bumper to open up more airspace for a FMIC. I'm just not sure if this one is going to be ricey or not. Here's a pic of the bumper (minus the stupid canards). Let me know if you think I should trade.

I would just sell the header and save for turbo parts.

I don't know... I'm just thinkin that a Custom Coach FMIC would look real nice tucked behind that bumper and you'd be able to see the charge pipes on either side of it with those big side openings. On my car it will be black, so maybe that will make it look a little better. I don't know...damnit I hate making decisions.

thats what I'm kinda thinkin. at least it doesn't look like someone stole it off of a spaceship. and with those rectangular holes, it kinda has a R33 or Blitz style going for it.

That's a showoff front. I would say you could sell the header for more than it would cost to buy a new bumper. I say sell the header, and see if you want a bumper later, but even if you want a bumper still, you can still come out ahead on funds if you sell, then buy. The guy would be getting a great deal if you were trade. IMO bodykits are a dime a dozen these days. ;)

I say sell the header, and buy the bumper. It's probably some cheap ass copy of a copy that was copied off a copy anyways and was made of 3 layers of fiberglass that'll crack as soon as you take it out your trunk. Most I'd pay for a used bumper like that is 75 (and that's me being generous). So if you really want his bumper, take your value for the headers and subtract 75 and tell him to give you that much more. So let's say 150 for your header, take away 75 and have him give you an extra 75. Even that sounds steep but still, maybe his bumper plus 50 for your header.

if you do decide to buy that bumper, make sure you put some screen over the massive holes, so you dont suck up any horses or small animals. they can be a serious detriment to your weight to power ratio.

a used header doesn't really have much resale value, just my .02. unless you hot tank it and throw a fresh coat of paint on it and call it "new". ;)

Re:A matter of opinion, please.

^ true true... but a used bumper doen't have much resale value either ;D. I still think the header would be a little more valuable than the bumper. I think ricers these days figured out that body kits don't give you enough speed, i mean the 25 horsies from a full kit are great and all but as we all know headerS, yeah headerS, give you 50-75% more hp. A reagular header won't do much, maybe like ten, so remember to tell him they're headerS. :P

Re:A matter of opinion, please.

Two years ago I bought bodykits off one of the biggest backyard mexican bodykit makers around. I used to get pieces for $150 and whole kits for $350. I could still deal with them but they are too busy filling orders for Andy's auto sport, vis, and versus!!!! Check what used headers go for on egay, and I bet they go for a little more than $150. :-\

Re:A matter of opinion, please.

if that was a urethane bumber, AND you were gonna match the rest of the car to it, I say go for it, but Fiberglass blows, just sell your header and put it into the turbo setup.

Re:A matter of opinion, please.

I couldn't find any used DC header for a 92-95 Civic Z6 on egay. I was puttin the word out on the street around here that I was selling the header for $100, and thats what the guy wants for his bumper. I'm still not sure, I'll figure it out by the end of the weekend.

Re:A matter of opinion, please.

Im with Stealthmode, thats not a good trade. I used to be in the fiberglass buisness and I can tell you, unless its a good quality first generation part(made in the mold that came off the original part) it wont fit right and wont last. I have seen so much crap quality glass around these days, gell coat poping off, cracks in the parts at the bolt holes. Dont do it.
