Math Noggers needed!
I have a 350 , punched out .10 over I don't know ---- about math. What does that make it ? not much i know

Re: Math Noggers needed!
What's the bore 4" or 3.9"?

Re: Math Noggers needed!
if im correct all chevy 350's have a 4 inch bore... then again i know mine does and its from a 79 impala. if you bore it .010 over then its a 4.010 bore. im getting ready to bore mine .030 over when taxes make their way back. im also stroking it to a 383 so i plan for some major power on top of boost with the snail eagerly awaiting installation. as for myself, im stoked!! im finally building me a motor for my TA to take all the abuse i can dish out to it... :6

89-95 vette with 3.900" bore |
Re: Math Noggers needed!
come on you guys, shouldn't have to use the net for this kinda stuff, displacement is radius squared multiplied by pi, mutliplay that product by the stroke, and then mutiply that by the number of cylinders in question. 61 cubic inches in a liter, 16.387 cubic centimeters in a cubic inch

Re: Math Noggers needed!
Lotus had Cosworth do their engines, as did Ford. Ever heard of a Ford Cossie, ruling the streets overseas? ;)
Whether or not they had anything to do with this LT5, meh. I don't know a whole hell of a lot about those era cars except they are freaking slow until you build them. |
Re: Math Noggers needed!
so did he bore it out .10 or .010? There is a big difference in machining terms.
|
Re: Math Noggers needed!
Pfff, it's just an order of magnitude. You can make up the difference between .10" and .010" by how you gap your rings during engine assembly. ::)
:P |
Re: Math Noggers needed!
well lets put it this way, either find a good pre 86 4 bolt main block and punch it out .030 over and get some good pistons and rods. like i said i got one for 200 as a complete motor so they are out there. mines getting punched over .030 and all forged components are getting installed with arp's throughout. for good measures make sure you use a trusted shop to do all the work that backs it up with warrante. 383 stoker on the way for me. boosted too at that. have fun and do some research.

Re: Math Noggers needed!
a 350 bored .030 over is a 355 so takin a gues itd be about a 351-352
|
Re: Math Noggers needed!
1. All 350s are a 4 inch bore except the lt5 or whatever quad cam catostrophe
2. your block was bored .010" not .100" Its probably like 352"^3 |
Re: Math Noggers needed!
352"^3 = homosexuality

Re: Math Noggers needed!
If you need 33 extra cubes to make any power with all that displacement you are doing something wrong. :P
|
Re: Math Noggers needed!
yeah building a beast i think it what its called lol. i figured go for it all since this is the first motor im building for myself. with a snail though it will be one hell of a motor regardless if i boost it or not though.

Re: Math Noggers needed!
:P
Every cube helps, I was just teasing. It's certainly cheaper when you have affordable bolt together parts to get the cubes, and it's kind of stupid not to do it if you have to build an engine. |

Re: Math Noggers needed!
Imports still don't have the affordable quality mass production parts available to domestics, which is unfortunate. Some day though it might happen, but I doubt it. Open up any summit or jegs and you'll see millions of transmissions, heads, suspension parts, etc available for decent prices.

Still, I'm not knocking domestics... I love slingshotting them at the track, or absolutely embarrassing them from a higway roll when they pick races. I might be knocking the typical domestic owner, though... be a good egg and buy a turbo big enough to generate stupid amounts of power, okay? Because a third stage that can't be laid down until you're going 90-100 mph is freaking useful. |

Re: Math Noggers needed!
If you weigh more than 3000 lbs you need more than 600 whp.
