Map Sensor Question
Does anyone know if your map sensor controls or has anything to do with an automatic transmission. I have a 2000 civic ex w/D16y8. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re:Map Sensor Question
the map sensor reads pressure/vacuum and works of a 5 volt system, it delivers that input to the ecu, and the ecu goes upon to add more fuel or less. But thier is a bunch of other factors as well, temp/intake air temp/o2 sens/tps. the ecu reads all the inputs and determines what is needed. As far as it doing anything to the tranny, I dont think so, the only sensor I know of would be the TPS sensor (close postion switch)

Re:Map Sensor Question
Hmm, I wouldn't put it past Honda to not use the MAP information to determine shifts. The MAP signal provides load information to the ECU, which may be very useful in determining a downshift for acceleration. Just a guess.
