Default Making a hard drive copy

How do I make a copy (image?) of my hard drive? I have all the basic programs I want loaded. I remember doing this a while ago when I was in an A+ class, but I totally forget now.

Ghost is the de facto standard for disk imaging. I use it daily in my administrative tasks. Ghost with a custom BartPE boot cd.

dos xcopy or ghost

ghost is a bit scarey when you are copying one drive to another identical drive. i know a coworker that accidentally copied the contents of a blank hd to a primary hd to one of our engineers and he got hosed...

This needs clarification. There is nothing scary about ghost. If you're an idiot and can't read simple instructions, don't use ghost. If you image an empty partition and apply it to one with data, you're gonna get a perfect replica of that empty partition. This isn't rocket surgery, but it does require you to have a clue. If he would have mounted the image and looked at it with ghostwalker prior to applying it, he would have seen it was blank.
