Made an HX go fast tonite
 

Took a few minutes to work on a CRX with a D16Y5 (Civic HX) swap in it. Forged Bottom End.

The guy I was doing this for was TJ, alot of the NW people might know him as the guy that had the DSM 4g63 in the EG Hatch that was selling on ebay a while back

Car has a 14b or 16g setup, cant remember which. No Intercooler, 450cc injectors, Race Gas, Methanol Injection System (DSM Guys have a hard-on for Methanol)

Anyways, I didn't do a ton of tuning to the car, just a basemap and a few fuel adjustments afterwards. It hit a 12.5second pass on 18psi, then broke axle on the next pass, which was gonna be about a 20psi run.

Pretty weird, I guess the HX has a some weird economy vtec system that we just needed to basically put into vtec way soon, so the crossover was at like 2500rpm.

I've got an hx on my z6 block. I also have a low vtec crossover and people are like why would you want that? Cause rollin on 3v per cyclinder sucks till vtec kicks in and it makes your turbo spool up later. I'm gonna turn my HX head to nonvtec and permenently lock the rockers so it uses the secondary lobes all the time. Since the hx cam is slightly more aggressive then the y8 cam. Damn 12 seconds! :o

i think once he intercools it and up's the boost a bit, it will probably dip 11's

You're more ambitous than I am by tuning a car with methanol. It works wonders, but I would hate to tune with it and I know a handful of tuners refuse to tune with it just because it's one more complication to throw in the mix.

All that aside, it kicks ass. IAT's drop way way down. I wish I had some old datalogs from a friends cars. The IAT's were substantially lower fat the end of a run from the beginning.

I have a hard time calling what I did with the car tuning really. Id more say I helped get it up and running and got him some clean air/fuel ratios. From there I made no timing changes, and only a few other tiny fuel changes for balance out idle and such.

running methonal, there is no real reason to use an intercooler.

You guys in PDX are nuts with the meth injection. Lucas (english racing) is doing my IC pipes and I'm tempted to pick up his meth injection kit too. He is pulling low 12's with stock fuel systems and pump gas. Nuts.

I know, and thats in a Galant. I see Lucas down there all the time. TJ is one of his friends or employees or something like that.

Yeah TJ's civic was nasty as hell. I don't know if TJ works for him at all.

snafab that was the best 4 seconds of your life... 282 hp with a 319 spike, id say its solid. with the new mani and wastegate ill bang 300 on the dyno and go run some mid 12s on the radials. :-*

step 3 - fook points out obvious fact that hotrex is a homo and has never posted anything that resembles a 1/4 mile pass

fook im not arguing here, the 12.5 is cool no doubt. my car weighs a ton with me in it so i figure mid 12s on drag radials will prob be the story.

i bet i could go 12 flat on slicks with a lil seat time.

i havent gone to the track because my car hasnt run the way its supposed to yet.

im not going to rush my ---- again and end up like we both did once so far already....

my car isnt leaving the garage until xeno comes and tunes it.

no more bullshit, 10 psi, whatever it makes it makes, whatever it runs it runs.

i stayed dead even with a car that made a 13.58 pass on the run i broke ringlands on and he had a .100 jump off the line on me. Thats a little more than barely. I honestly give myself a little less credit than I probably should, I'd guess mine was a 13.6 range run. I don't know for sure because PIR's timers suck ass and for whatever reason i have a 1/2 complete slip. I do know that my 3rd gear shift i jumped ahead of him a bit, then i started not pulling as hard.

would Meth-Injection work on High Compression as well?? No doubt it wouldn't do as much as it would on a turbo car but if you could know off 3-4 even 5 tenth's that would Rock! Also, might be a dumb Q but how exactly does Meth Injec work? thanks
