Now that I have decide to return the AEM Pulley, My dad asked if it is possible to machine the two accessory drives off my stock pulley to lighten it. I have no A/c or P/s so all I need is the alternater. We have a friend that own a High percision machine shop so I know it will be done well.

Will it effect the balance? I only need the inner 3 groove drive.

u can, but it will afect the ballance. But you can take it and have it rebalanced at a machine shop, if your friend can NOT do that for you. it should not cost you much to ballance just the crank pulley.

One thing that you might becarefull is how the dampening material will stay inside the pulley after its been cut/machined. Not sure if that will be affected or not. 98ctr

i have an unorthodox crank puley on my car, its just the single belt one since i only need it for my alternator. i have never had any problems with it ever though, had it for a about 3 years now

yeah man, no ----, don't ---- with your crank pulley. there are 3 things on your car that you shouldn't ---- with if you want it to last (crank, flywheel, springs on the clutch disk) these all effect the torsional vibrations of the crank and rotating assembly, Honda put these there for a reason. If you want, I can bring up some literature on the subject.

You do know there is a factory crank pulley for D-series that is like about the 1/4 of the weight than that one? I cant remember exactly which model they came on but they are really light, and thats what I have always run on all my d-series engines.

The crank pulley topic always intresting. I had one machined down years ago on my first zc and ran it forever until I sold the motor in perfect condition. I also have run the dhracing unit with no problems on all of my recent builds. I believe it's the hf crx pulley that is the light on from the factory

Don't the older d series have a smaller crank snout then the newer or are there some odd ***** cause a friend of mine gave me a b2 pulley and it wouldn't fit on my b7 crank So I decided since my engines don't last long at all I just picked up a lightened crank pulley and give her a try.

hi have one im my d from a edm ef 1.4 liter with no A/C very light. Its got holes all around it from factory. Check those, i believe the engine code is d14... something.
