don't that be some ----. I wonder how good the "mystery oil" works.

I know a certain HMT member was showing me a lucas display at an autozone and explaining to me how much better it worked then my mobil 1 synthetic. hehehe ;D

Re:Lukas Oil = BAD. Look in.

So even if I used synthetic oil AND added the Lucas oil, it'll still ---- up? I'd better take my ---- out of my motor then...

Re:Lukas Oil = BAD. Look in.

the display is pretty neat. there are two sets of wheels hooked to a lever and you turn the wheels and you can plainly see that the lucas oil coats the wheels better..

you know, I was thinking the same thing.

the oil they are using is semi oil. who runs 80 weight oil in a a 4cyl gas engine? I would like to see it with some 5W30. I think that would make a huge difference.

Guys, just dont use this ---- PERIOD. nothing to it, the display ones at auto zone are crap, the reason you dont see the problem there is because the RPM and heat isnt there. but in an engine with heat and high revs its a different story. i will try this experiment at home this week, and i bet if all of you try this then you will see for yourself how bad this stuff really is, its good for low RPM farm equipment, and thats about it.

Re:Lukas Oil = BAD. Look in.

If this ---- was any good they would put it in the oil already. The petroleum industry spends millions on R@D every year, do you think the guys at Lukas are smarter than Ethel, Conaco and Mobil engineers? I dont. Dont use additives, split fire spark plugs, Vortech air filter defusers or gas line magnets, they dont work. If they did your car would come with them from the factory.

i use 1 gallon of 80w90 gear oil and 2 bottles of lucas everytime i change the oil in my truck. its a 300 i-6 with a wrist pin knock and it helps quite it down.

I am gonna try the same experiemnt with different oils also. the oils that they use are heavy weight oils for deisels, and low rpm vehicles. as stated....^^^^

I am courious about lightweight oils. (5W, 10W...and so forth)it will have a completly different outcome....(theory)

it would be like putting syrup through gears and putting coke through gears....right?

Re:Lukas Oil = BAD. Look in.

correct me if im wrong but any oil will foam up if the oil level is up around the gears

like if you overfilled your oil pan and the oil was around the crank it would foam up right?

Honda16hb 07-09-2004 07:15 PM

Re:Lukas Oil = BAD. Look in.

no, it shouldn't there are anti foaming additives in your oil, I watched a video about it from valvoline in my engine rebuilding class.

Re:Lukas Oil = BAD. Look in.

I am gonna do my own experiment. I am gonna go to the scrap yard tommorow and see what I can find. things are always cheaper there because you buy it by the weight, not what it is.

humm....

I am currently using the 5W30 with one Lucas mix...

I've used lucas before in my car. All I really got from the article is that the oil could get a little foamy with the lucas ----. Did I read it correctly or am I just drunk?
I went to a wedding tonight and got shitfaced! Woo Hoo, I have a life again!!!!! :P

Steve drank something other than Diet Pepsi? :o I thought you didn't drink? ???

I never use any of those additives. I just go the the auto parts store and buy some $1.99/quart ---- and a cheapo filter. I used to run the super expensive full synthetic race car high performance oil, but I grew out of it. That was back when I thought my car was fast N/A. :-[

After 4 Coors Lights I'd be looking for some real beer so I can actually get drunk. :P

Re:Lukas Oil = BAD. Look in.

Steve's a light weight!

After 4 coors lights I would be looking for the viccodin and a case of bud to get the party started.

I've actually sat thru the ------- siminars from the lucas salespeople that they used to hold for us when I was working parts counter. It's still all snake oils to me. Castrol 20w50 basic red cap bottle is usually what I run in my vehicles (mind you I don't drive asian cars). Oils have detergants in them, it's all going to foam slightly, in no way is Lucas oil just going to ---- your motor all the way. Rotella (disel oil) is far different then conventional oil.. if you people are so ------- scared then go find some ND 30 weight to throw in (non detergant lawn mower oil).

I think if the ---- was that bad then we would either see a class action lawsuit or the lack of lucas products on the shelf. Yeah I've used it twice, but it was pretty pointless, I also tried motor flush (which is basicly kerosene) - big mistake. Good thing I wrecked that car out back in '98-'99, cause it always slightly smoked after that bad experience.

You guys still thirsty for more info?

Valvoline uses recycled oil. Castrol Synthetic is not *TRUE* synthetic oil (I don't feel like explaining it right now). I bet you didn't know that the majority of those simple motor additives you see on the shelf are pretty much transmission fluid (ATF).

When you've done it all and ran it all in many different motors you learn what to use. Stay away from 5w30, at least run 10w30. Use thicker oil in the summer seasons, thinner in the winter. If you have a high millage motor, use thicker oil. There is no such thing as something that will magically heal your leaking seals. Most all oil filters are the same, but I do prefer to use the bosch premium filters on any of my cars with whatever choice of castrol motor oil.

Don't trust rednecks with a digital camera and some poorly constructed test devices. For all we know he got paid off by competitors of Lucas to post that ---- up. Unless a lab is doing the tests, I'm not convinced. The lucas display stands u find on the parts counters are bullshit too, every stupid ass plays with them - so I'm sure you're picking up more germs from touching the levers then what that monkey from outbreak was carrying.

I'm done for the night.. good to be back. Thanks to Doc Boost for looking out for me while I was gone - going to bed now.
