losing oil pressure

okay, i've got the 4.9l inline 6 in my truck, and i've replaced the oil pump because i had no pressure at idle with the old pump (removal showed bad scoring of the pump internals) and now, it takes 20-25 minutes before pressure goes to 0 at idle, when i know i didnt ---- it up or anything, if im 15-20 mins into a town with a bunch of lights, i drop like 5 psi between lights, until i get no pressure, and my valvetrain starts to sound like a diesel fuel pump (good giveaway that ive got no pressure, i know valves need adjusted anyways though). is there some way i can install an electric pump vs my mechanical?

pump looks like

i have no problem with raising the motor to drop the pan, and install a fitting running through the pan (braided steel line w/ fitting to bolt to block, and compression fitting for clamping to the pan) and installing an external electric, but, is there something you guys know of? i really never heard of this problem before, anywhere, so i dunno whats wrong :'( :7

Re: losing oil pressure

you have no oil pressure because your rod and main bearings are fucked, maybe you could retrofit a oil pump from a v12 alison fighter plane engine they put out like a coked up porn star.

my compressions on target, i dont have any bearing play (barely 100k on motor, these things go for 500k) and besides, what is bad bearings gonna do to my oil pressure?

just add a extra 10qts of gear oil and drive it untill it dies :1

i dont have any bearing play so you wiggled the rods with your fingers when the pan was off ::)

what is bad bearings gonna do to my oil pressure?give you 0 at idle when warm because it just pisses past the bearings back to the pan.

well, turns out that something IS indeed fucked, 49psi at startup, progresses to about 5-10 at 2 grand on the expressway, once its warm. gauge bottoms out at idle

Hey this happend to me like 10mins ago .. swapped my Y7 to a y8 mani.. got it all runnnig good .. but the oil line b4 was ran inbetween the y7 mani cuz its open .. so i just cut it and got a brass fitting that splits it and i put it together but i guess just by hand because i was in a hurry fighting the rainy weather .. so i didnt crimp the little pieces on the nylon tubing and i took it for a test drive and like 3 blocks away i notices no oil pressure .. and i shut her off and coasted as far as i could.. checked the oil .. there was none all came out ... so ill be pushing it 3 blocks when it stops raining and ill make a run to the autoparts store in the morning b4 work for somt oil and a new fitting .. :P :P :P
