Looking for a new TIG and found this
I don't think I've ever seen this posted before, but here it is. Yeah its ridiculously expensive, but its an awesome machine. I went to their website to get more info.

Re:Looking for a new TIG and found this
I think you can do that with a regular high powered MIG. Its called "spray arc tansfer" If you turn the power up high enough as soon as you hit the trigger, the elctricity ionizes the air and your basically spraying liquid steel at your piece. I'm not sure this is 10% correct but I read up on it at a welding forum.

Re:Looking for a new TIG and found this
Well if it isn't even 10% correct, why did you say it ;)
The video on there site looked cool. I wonder why it isn't more prevelant in the autobody industry. There must be a reason people still use patch panels. |

so was I at least a little right?? :)

Re:Looking for a new TIG and found this
if you watch the video, all they are doing is spraying on hot metal, the metal doesn't 'weld' to the surface, hence the 150 or whatever degrees of surface temperature. I don't trust it.

Re:Looking for a new TIG and found this
I saw the video and thats not what I thought it was but it seems kinda ghetto to me, if something that costs 25k can be ghetto. I don't like throwing new metal on top of rust, because it will just rust from the inside out.

Re:Looking for a new TIG and found this
Yeah you have to cut out that entire section that was rusted if you can't get to the back side of it. There would still be rust on the backside. Thats why bodyshops and I personaly use patch panels at my shop. Thats a waste of money. Just buy a sandblaster,a welder and a cutting wheel. Its cheaper.
