Looking for a new clutch

I'm pretty naked when it comes to this. However I'm looking for a new clutch for my 93 Hatchback SI. What is the difference between a sprung or unsprung clutch? I was on LSD's site and they have those there and I have never heard of them before(the whole unsprung thing). Also, for street use/abuse on a soon to be slighty modded(bolt on) d16z6 what is my best bet? I will be running the car in solo II this summer aswell.

Thanks guys. I'm just used to manually shifted auto's so bear with me haha.

Can you explain to me what the advantages are with a built tranny to run a unsprung clutch?

The springs on the clutch dampen the shock when the clutch engages. The idea behind what he is saying is that your trans will be getting that shock without the springs.

Re: Looking for a new clutch

on the center of the sluctch u have the springs, when u ingage the clutch it lets the center section twist slightly to give u a smother ingagement. also you dont have even power from the engine. fire, frire, fire, fire, frire, fire, fire, frire, fire, fire, frire, fire there is a time in between power strocks in the engine. this would give u a very slight pulsation and the springs help obsorb the power strock and release it between so you have less engine vibration transmitted to the driver
