Re: looking to get in the rc market
if you're just getting started i'd say traxxas ftmfw! they are well known and reliable and spare parts are easy to come by. i bought a nitro rustler with the pro.15
engine in 2001 and the only things i ever replaced were the rear shock tower and one of the rear shocks (20+ foot bmx jumps own stock plastic lol). im still
running the original front tires too! my favorite fuel for these engines is blue thunder 20% (for non race applications anyway). top fuel is ok but they put too
many additives in the mixture to keep retards from grenading the motor when they lean out the afr too much. unless you're a complete noob you can tune for
more power reliably with blue thunder.

Blue thunder is ---- fuel with cheap caster oil and a shitty nitro content.
Sidewinder, O'Donells, and Nitrotane(made by VP fuels) are the only ones that use a synthetic oil that will inshure 5, 6,..10 gallons of fuel through your motor and that I would recomend. Expect to pay $19-22$/gallon for good fuel. I have a 427 that I have ran 6 gallons of Sidewinder fuel through with no issues and is still ripping it up in my LST2!
Dont ---- around with cheap fuel because a new motor is more expensive than a gallon of good fuel. Cheap fuel also makes it harder to tune your engine too and will foul your glow plug quick(it gunks it up). I go through fuel fast because I have 4 nitro RCs now( )so I can literally go through a gallon in a day :P

Re: looking to get in the rc market
so steve slayden taking a stock nitro 4tec, adding tires, and placing in ROAR top 5, makes it a drag race straight line car? i've spun the nitro 4tec around in a parking lot a few years ago, whoever thinks that ---- is made for straight line is crazy, flipping sideways from pavement seams at 50mph, end over end, flipping back over, driving off.. doesn't happen for everyone.
traxxas fuel is iffy, lots of oil and lower nitro than stated.
but good for break-ins, and thats about it

I agree that Traxxas might of had good products 3-4 years ago but now its all about #s for them. Thats why their products suck. WHy spend $500 on a Revo or T-Maxx when I could spend $650 on an LST2 and not have to upgrade one thing and be able to race it and be competitive out of the box aside from it being able to with stand 20' back flips with no problems.
