looking to buy a truck from RI that has no title, how can i get one
seen this cheap s10 down in RI i want it but the lady has no title for it. the state of RI does not require titles for car over 10 years old. and if you register on, they will not issue a title. MA requires a title for any car being registered no matter the age. its a sucky loophole. i always see great deals like that that i have to pass.
anyways, do any of yall live in a state that can issue a title for a car brought with a bill of sale

Here in washington we have what we in the business call:
affidavit in lieu of title:
1) "Affidavit in lieu of title" is a written declaration confirming the certificate of ownership, registration certificate, validation tab are unavailable, lost, stolen, destroyed or mutilated. The affidavit in lieu of title may be used to release interest in the vehicle. The signature of the owner completing the affidavit in lieu of title must be notarized or certified as described in WAC 308-56A-270.
again, this only in Washington. your state may have something similar. your best bet is to ask a tow yard that you hit up when hulking.

some states that don't require a title will let you register it without one. then the states that require a title will usually issue you one with an out of state registration. that's how the titleing services get you a title for a shell, they registered my camaro shell in maine or some ----. those places are expensive though.
I'd call your dmv and see if it would even be a problem.

i posted an ad on craigslist and apparently alot of people emailed me and told me that they where able to register them with a old registration and bill of sale.
of couse this lady dosent have the ------- registration. i am gonna call her soon and she what she is talking about. she said she had plates and can make a bill of sale, but no title or registration.

RI sucks
you need bill of sale and old registration
if not you have to go to one of the buildings with bill of sale and for $10 she will print an old registration

i understand that in RI all you need is a bill of sale, but i am not in ri, i am in ma.
the car is from ma. apparently the guy i brought it from is a contractor. he did some work on this ladys house. the lady couldent pay him in full so she gave him the truck. i guess she ended up screwing him over so he says. she dident give him the title to it. so now the only way i can register it is if i track down this lady, and see what the story is. her end could be totally different.

Doesn't sound worth it! What year is this s10? These things are a dime a dozen i have one got it for free just had to tow it out of there and it had a 305 in the bed i just gotta find a tranny. What are u gonna do with yours if you get it?
