this will be my first time and hopefully it'll turn out good with a ghetto garage job...............oh btw what's the smallest air compressor I can get away with. I know you need a huge one but this is hmt and I'm poor.

edit- one more question......should I clean the gun after each use and how?

90turboteg summed it all up. All in the prep. I personally primed the whole thing. I also run a ---- load of exhaust fans. And an intake fan w/ a filter. The kind you would put in ur AC/Furnace thingy. You can get em @ home depot, usually the same size as a box fan. I also wet the floors. All oldschool kind of tricks.

I'll be painting a few cars this summer.. a teg, ef hatch, and a del sol maybe. I'll post pics... maybe even do a writeup because i never made one for my car.

wetting the floors is for *******. you don't want moisture in your paint.

prep work is key, masking is key, reducing the paint is key.

what you need is a air compressor that can do your whole car, i have no idea on the size, but if the air compressor can't keep up with you, then you need to do it in sections, only problem is, after you've done one section, you need to mask it off when you go to do the next panel, otherwise you'll get over spray and it will look like ----.

you also should get a 100 dollar air dryer and inline filter, helps keep the moisutre and contaiminents out of the paint.

for fagots huh, u spray the floor donw before u bring the car in, then u bring the car in ive done in like 12 times, never had a prob with water in the paint or w/e. its so dust dosent rise when u paint or move around and so dust thats setleing stays down, also, depends on if i primer the whole car or not, bright colors yes, colors with metalic yes, but dark colors dosent matter as much.

Thanks for the rep Stealth!

Go with a grav feed. Dont waste your time on anything else, only ---- results( for the most part, ive seen some good come, but with it came skills)

As for what kind of gun to get, its all personal preferance. just stay away from anything cheap. Unlike most tools, where a cheap wrench will do the job the same as a snap-on, a cheap gun will show.

Im with Theycallmebizzare, as I dropped the cash and bought a digi SATA, but that was because I was spraying cars for a living, and still do some stuff here and there. Good results can be had by non digi's, just take a min too look at it first.

Here are a few links to my other posts ive made on the subject, and if ya have any other questions, dont hesitate to ask!
