Look what I picked up today, Think I got a good deal?

Well Ive been looking for a air compresor for awhile now and my co-worker new this. His father in-law is a contractor and has about 8 of them. Last week one of em took a dump... turns out it was the piston ring on the motor??? He took it to get fixed by a friend and the guy rebuilt the compresor motor. He finally got it back tuesday but while it was getting worked on he bought a new Dewalt compresor and decided to sell the old one. My co-worker told me about the compresor and I jumped at the opertunity w/ out knowing anything bout it.... just that it was rebuilt. Picked it up today for $100(the cost of the rebuild) and was kinda dissapointed at first. Earlier today I swung by Home Depot and out of curriosity I checked out the compresors. Couldnt find mine but I found something similar. It was a Porter-Cable, 135psi, 19Gal tank, 3.3 HP for $799!!! GOD DAMN. The one I got today is a porter-cable 135psi, 20Gal tank, 6HP. So did I score or what. Was $100 a steal? Seems like I actually got a good deal. Check out the pics, its a lil beat up... just cosmetic but god damn it runs like a champ!

I bet the one you saw at HD was an oil bath compressor, the one you have looks like an oil-less compressor. Good deal either way, an absolute steal if that's an oil bath direct drive.

$100 is great if it does what you want. :)

I wouldn't say that 100 bucks was a steal, but a good deal nonetheless. Maybe the one at homedepot was a different model or marked wrong? I can't see a 3hp 20 gal compressor going for $799.

Want to hear a steal? I bought a 60 gal 7hp ingersol-rand compressor at a garage sale for 165 bucks. Turned out to only be 6 years old. O0

I work at home depot and am around the air compressors all day long and we dont carry a porter cable like your talking about the only ones we have is the pancake style and the one like dewalt makes with the side by side tubes. They come w/ nailers and all for like $300 for the pancake but the only compressor we carry that is $799 is the rigid tube style that is gas powered or the large stand up huskys for in a garage but the size you have is similar to the husy 19 gallon and they run about $199 i believe so i think you got a ok deal but the main thing is as long as it lasts and does what you need it to do then you are set ;)
