Very true. Most of the work on the old car was done by someone else anyway.

Spinning on dyno rollers only happens to BIG power cars or ones with trashed suspension. I've seen 1500 whp cars on a Mustang with no traction issues, its an irrelevant argument IMO.

If it makes a difference, I noticed when using Evan's dynapack that cars coming off would yeild .5 - 1 AFR difference on the street whereas the Mustang I am using currently is dead nuts on everytime.

Are you going by his dyno's tailpipe sniffer?

I hate tailpipe A/F meters. They are so inconsistent, ESCPECIALLY if there is a catalytic converter in the system.

I compared my PLX to a couple tailpipe sniffers. Even without a cat their could be up to 1.0 difference.

I've had good luck with one or two of those sniffers, they work well if they are set up right. You just have to account for the fact they lag compared to a forward mounted unit.

Of course the delayed readings, but the fact that they never report the same A/F as my standalone. It would be nice if they reported the same difference, but that is not the case.

JD or Chris, have you used any of those flutes that mount in the tailpipe? Like this. I would consider getting one if they work decent.

about a .5 + or - in the afr using a flute, thats what i was told buy a aemems tunner in omaha

+/- doesn't tell me anything.

question regarding af ratios

it possible for me to mount a narrowband in a nut welded on my exhaust upstream, +12v to the whites, ground the black, and put a low voltage readout voltmeter (0-1v) and read it that way? carbureted doesnt merit a wideband unless making post 600hp in my opinion

I've had Innovate LM-1 and NTK mounted on flutes, and stock Honduh K-series wideband sensor, all in .05-.1 harmony while the pillar mounted AEM unit spouted LIES.

Mad Maximillian... I see a lot of aftermarket gear reading incorrectly due to ground issues or installer error. Expecting a wideband to log correctly when tied to thin gauge ECU power and grounds, fighting the ECU for a path for current to flow raises dynamic resistance, it is an exercise in futility. If your AFRs show up differently between WB display and what your laptop logs through the ECU... if your AFRs change when you turn headlights on/off... if Crome lambda offset is more than 0.01... you have problems. Ground the engine, ground the chassis, run your powers for your gear from the battery and the grounds to the engine block, and use wire thick enough to support it.

I don't have those problems. I run 12 gage wire for the power and ground from the battery; no pesky loops with grounding to the engine. The offset for datalogging is irrelevant. All it means is that the voltage feed going to the ecu has some drop in it. It doesn't mean that the WB is reading differently. All you are doing is relaying the correct WB readings.

I did a direct test. I logged my sensor in the DP and then put the same sensor in the gas analyzer vacuum box that lead to the tailpipe. There was a difference. See how the offset doesn't matter. Offset is a common factor in the test; therefore, is null in the test.

Yes, I use it when someone shows up and they didnt know they needed an O2 bung in the car or the O2 sensor wont come out. Works well but yes you have to account for the lag. Let me know if you need one.

No Joseph, I was using o2 in the exhaust tract like normal on each case.

great looking manifold man...

unbelieveable crappiness on HT...sheesh..

there are a LOT of good people on there..and a few high-post-high knowledge jackasses that can ruin a thread in 4 seconds..

tons of info, but tons of stupidity.

How well do they work in the huge fart can mufflers. You know, the ones that taper from 2" to 5". I have had problems with with the regular long copper tube ones. The outside air seems to saturate the exhaust stream.

No, Dave is a hack job. Anybody who can't make a simple H22 manifold lacks skill. :P :P

----; you ever deal with Techedge Widebands? What are your opinions on them?

I use a .03 correction in crome and its jumpy as ---- but it works itself out, the Te guys claim its because the WBlin out is not grounded and it feeds from the heater circiut or some ----. I dont use crome's lambda input anyway, i've found its faster to tune by hand with the display right there in my face.
