LoJack worth it?

So there's been alot of stolen cars turning up around my neighborhood and I was considering getting that LoJack system for extra security. A currently have a Viper alarm on my CRX, it has starter kill and some other cool features like power door locks and what not. I know that LoJack ---- doesn't prevent it from being stolen, but it sounds like a good investmen, what do you guys think?

Re:LoJack worth it?

so what about lo jack? you get to find your car after it's been stripped? i'd rather not find it if it's stolen, if you find it within 30 days, insurance doesn't pay for it, i mean they'll pay for the damage, but if you have engine swap and turbo etc. i don't think they'll be paying for that :P

Re:LoJack worth it?

Yeah I guess thats something to think about, but it all depends on how soon they can recover you car. Some get recovered within an hour, many times sooner, so they say :P

Re:LoJack worth it?

there are many other gps tracking systems than lojack. Some you can monitor from your home computer, with current whereabouts, speed, miles its gone, etc..

you could also install a mini spy cam and hook a pa system up to the speakers so you could watch him from your computer and talk ---- him while he's trying to steal your car, i think they'll prolly leave after that

Re:LoJack worth it?

I think that would provoke them to do more damage.

yeah, i guess that would kind of be like coming in your house and tying you up and ------- your wife in front of you, there's just nothing you can do about it :-\

Re:LoJack worth it?

auto lock and recomte control... drive them back to your house! lol... of once you find its stolen hop in another car, follow them, auto lock the doors when you find them. Then have all your friends come up to where you have him trapped. Have fun.

:)

Re:LoJack worth it?

Dude stay away from lo jack... not even worth it for way to many reasons.
Possible solutions:
1) Remove ecu fuse from under the hood when u think the car is in a dangerous place
2) Run a kill switch somewhere nicely under ur seat, it has to be pressed to start the car
I have many other options for you... but i dont want to flood the thread.. pm me if u need more ideas

2genCRX 02-19-2004 12:26 PM

Re:LoJack worth it?

All those solutions seem very tedious, I all ready have a starter kill function on my car alarm. I've herd of people stealing cars by towing them. Because when your car's rear is lifted, it tricks your alarm into thinking its being towed, therfore shutting it up, is this true?

Does pulling the ECU fuse reset you clock/radio?
cause that would suck
Sometimes the safest looking places can be no exception, you just never know, damn I hate car theives >:(

Re:LoJack worth it?

do they give u the option to track it yourself via the web if so just roll out and put a few in the thief's head and conviently leave it there for the police to find like that

Re:LoJack worth it?

myself i have an avital alarm system which has many features on it. if the alarm is disabled it goes into a backup system which when the brakes are touched when car is running it will shut off and if they get past that, when the car reaches 20mph it will also shut down and lock the theif in the car. his only option is to break the window from inside. but first of all they have to get by daisy and bugsey a 55lb amstaf and a 85lb red-nose PB the best alarm i have

Re:LoJack worth it?

I now have the 88 hatch to leave looking harmless, not lowered, no exhaust, etc. the best theft deterant is have a car that nobody wants to steal. My race car has all the goods-sparco wheel, seat, etc... and the daily driver has nothing worth stealing... I was thinking about putting the sparco steering wheel in the new car, with the quick release, but I think theives would be interested if they saw that a car had a quick release setup on it...

Of course.....
but we all know some people steal just about anything, I've seen it happen, and I only have cars that people want ;D

Re:LoJack worth it?

I have not heard anything good about lo jack espescially since our type of cars will most likely be stripped right away. Also my uncle is a local cop and he said they dont even carry the lo-jack tracking units in any of the cars any more because of the frequent car change overs. My personal opinion would to be to get a GPS unit that you can track online from a palm pilot. I have seen atleast a half dozen units that are set up this way. And that way you can monitor your car 24/7 and now a days you can get wireless connections fairly cheap for a palm pilot. Unfortunatly people like to steal hondas so even in stock form your not safe as someone attempted to steal my stock 89 Accord.

Re:LoJack worth it?

---- like in the video you should just wire it so that whenever they step on the brake ur fucken horn goes off. In no time they will be pulled over! haha =P~

Re:LoJack worth it?

multiple hidden kill switches are a good idea or just reachin back and unplugging the fuel pump when your in a shady neighborhood.

i have a good alarm, gonna put on locking lug nuts when i put my bling bling 17's on, and maybe a removable steering wheel later. i just need to find someone selling a wheel/hub nice and cheap.

what sucks is that theres no stopping them from stealing stuff like stereo, seats, bov and some pipeing. those fucks just tear through it with a crobar and hammer, oh well guess full coverage is a good idea.

Re:LoJack worth it?

my rule of thumb is "if they really want it, they will get it"

I saw a teg at a junkyard once that was a theft recovery. Someone carved "victimized you bitch" into the hood and "don't worry, be happy" on the rear quarter. the whole interior was slashed, but the C5 was left under the hood unmolested...

------- idiots prolly took it for the rims or something and didn't even know there was a 3k dollar engine under the hood.

lojack lol whats that supposed to do but make your car more wanted, man get a 45 cal thats a good alarm ;)

Re:LoJack worth it?

I'd suggest installing a hidden switch that powers your fuel pump. No fuel = no start. If you do this though dont tell everyone you have it or show them where its at...it defeats the purpose

Re:LoJack worth it?

there really is know way to stop someome from getting your ---- if they really want it. if they really want it, they will get it. there are some things you can do like, what i do when i leave my car alone like uplug the ecu, mix up plug wires, etc, kill spark or fuel.

but this still doesnt prevent the car from being towed (which is becoming a popular method here in south fla.)

i suggest getting an alarm, turn the shock sensitivity up all the way, get a gun permit and learn to sleep light and just hope for the best. :-\

;D...just do that and when they steel it...just smash the throttle and let it go above 100 mph if they jump they probably die and if they still in the car ram it into a tree or a pole. you would have this result....
https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...threadid=17475
and if they towed it ...when they put it on the ground just run all of them over ;D....that would be some fun real live grandtheft auto

Re:LoJack worth it?

nothing, just that most of the time, its too late when the car is recovered. its alreday be scrapped.
