Default Local circle track racin

I am thinking about running a car at the local circle track and I want to know what you all would suggest. Gotta be American, FWD, SOHC and gotta keep factory Intake, injestors and gotta keep it NA.

Other restrictions are shorter than 105 inch wheel base and the engine must have come in that car. First thing that came to mind was a 2 door neon. didnt they have like 160 and pretty light? I dunno.

Some 2 doors were SOHC. The neon "sport" and r/t were both DOHC.

The SOHC had about 130hp and DOHC had about 150 i believe. They are a good car and that would probably be my choice.

Can you do any NA work to them?? If so maybe find out if you can raise the compression with some other "stock" dodge pistons.

must do sneaky mods. gasket match manifolds, mild delta cam grind, OEM high compression pistons, internal balancing. The kinda stuff they will not see with the engine together, and will probably miss when they tear it down.

What about a dodge shadow with the 1.9? like a mid 90's? I was thinking it was about the same power as the neon but lighter.

Easiest way to find out. Go down and watch. Find out whats competitive and try to talk to the guys doing it. They might be a little secretive, but i'm sure you could probably work out what they've 'got away with'.

I just hung up the phone with him talking about that very same thing. its small potatoes so there is no website with the cars or anything so I can get an idea of what else is out there.

Early Cavy's come with a 2.2 dont they? probably pretty light?
