toyota had the all trac and 7mgte supras. 3sgte>b16a1 and vtakk. supercharged mr2's ford had the svo. trans am turbo, grand am turbo.

I am well aware that there was other imports such as Nissan's Mazda's and Toyota cars along with some euro renaults and such, but honda was a big one if not the biggest then for cost and performance. show me a car from the 80's that could outhandle the civic? show me a car that aftermarket support started for with so much parts, the 2 biggest names like Mugen, Spoon were all because of Honda, it was honda that made it big before any of the other import cars did. I am not saying that all thoes other cars companies are inferior but they definetly did not catch the eye of a person looking for a track car like Honda did.
There was actually an article about this, I didnt just come here to make ---- up.
I'm not saying anything else dosnt count, it does but do you honestly think they made the SRT4 to compete with RX7's, Supra's and high end imports? I doubt it. Look on this site 90% of us drive a boosted civic, Dodge saw this as an oppertunity to make a domestic version of an import and slap a strong motor with a turbo on it and release it to your age group in hopes of turning people towards their car and away from the imports.

So your mom dumps an old civic ex on you in highschool. your 16 so you want a fast car, you start looking around and find that someone turboed a honda so you want to do the same. you do it. get into it. start thinking hondas the ---- because you see all of these modified cars. hondas are not fast, they can be quick moded, you can hit 10s in a street car on slicks. its still not fast, i havent built anything that was fast. mid 13's big deal. they dont handle very well, they are front wheel drive and if you try to gun it in a corner your just going to slide out of it. its just a civic. there fun to mess with and everything but jesus. get off hondas nuts
