Little ZC swap I did yesterday

This is Don's 88 Crx Si sporting a very bling bling Yellow paint job

Removing the D16a6, but why would we do that?

Don pretending to do something ;)

All done, the swap went smooth as always. The car is really lacking performance due to the pm6 ecu, maybe when he puts the pm7 or pg7 ecu in, the little ZC will wake up ;)

Thanks again Don,

Jeff

Wheres the turbo? :) Sorry to hijack but sorta on topic. Would those ZC motors go into a del sol? I've always wondered that and got such mixed answers.

Turbokit in the works.. He has a s2k that he normally drives, and this is now his daily driver. Part of the deal was that after I do the swap I get to take his car out street racing, lol.. he gave me the s2k to drive all night last night, fun fun ;D

Simple.. ZC's are basic R&R swaps with some very easy wiring & repinning.

This will go into a Del sol, but you would need to use a external map sensor, obd1 distributor (that doesnt fit on the zc, but can be made to work) Saturated injectors , and thats about it. They actually do have obd1 dohc zc's they are just rare. But the hard part will be finding an ECU that will work for obd1 zc. Possibly a LS ecu could work with some AFC tuning?

what wiring is necessary for the zc into an si? I thought it didn't need any wiring changes.

How long did it take you to finsih the entire swap?

Actual labor? not including going to lunch, getting parts and towing the car, probably 4 hours. I ran into a few things like seized distributor, few broken sensors & lines. These swaps are incredibly easy. Wiring is also simple, you need to repin the distributor and run the 2 cylinder sensor wires to the sensor off the exhaust cam. blue/green yellow/green.

SI you have to run i believe it is 2 wires from the disrib plug ti the cam angle sensor.

Now as for the obd1 zc Yes they do exist. luckystar in canada sells them (i been there seen them first hand) they sell alot of parts for a price of course. a obd0 ZC cost me 400 USD
