Default Little work I did on a buddies GSR last week...

Well a local guy (street racing friend) of mine had a little incident in his 98 GSR, He was rapping out 3rd gear 8200 rpms, and well uhm, shifted into 2nd gear heh, Said the Tach pegged out beyond 10grand, and ran a little funny afterwards.

So I took a look at it, and it seemed we just had a few bent valves, the car had a pretty bad miss.

So I talked him into some performance mod's since the head would already be off, and this would really be the time to do it.

Skunk2 Cams.. Lump Lump... :P

Skunk2 Cam Gears

Full ITR valve train setup

Even though the head only had 50k on it, the exhaust seats had some nasty pitting developing. So I talked him into a fresh valve grind.

Bling Bling sporting 3RA Surface job

Pistons were not harmed, in fact the valves were hardly bent, but enough to cause a good miss.

Yes, even jeff uses a torque wrench in some areas :P

Adjusting DOHC Vtec valves made easy... custom tools always help

Overall it turned out pretty decent, I didnt beat the ---- out of it to bad nor did I drive it before hand. But it runs good now.

Jeff

Top of 3rd to the very top of second?! Ouch. That's a damn tough motor to only have bent a few valves a bit. Is the rest of the motor stock?

What kind of assembly lube do you use?

Nice top end setup. He should have no problem hitting about 9 to 10 k now.

---- it, he should have went ahead and got full skunk 2 valvetrain as well. that itr valvetrain should be able to hold those lumpy *** cams to at least 9k though......

Heh, my boss sometimes thinks so too

What, you dont think I actually work on Nissans or Kia's? I'll post some pictures of me doing a lovely dash harness in a nissan quest or pathfiner, uhhhhh

how did he like it, did he notice a bid difference sense he use to drive it all the time??
Ya, he said he noticed vtec hits a bit harder, but I think the car could really use a dyno sesson with some afc tuning and some cam gear adjustments, I left the gears at 0/0

What kind of assembly lube do you use?
Trans prep, its my favorite ----... When it melts it basically turns into ATF.

Jeff

that's pretty tight.. just don't break the feeler gauge off in there or drop a nut in the spark plug hole like we did when we were adjusting my valves in the teg. lol
but ya im sure allfay will like it..
