sorry but an M3 roadster does not stand a chance, in a road race, or a drag race against a z06 corvette. MAYBE a 03 corvette coupe. they are 385hp@6000rpm

corvette wins the horsepower challange every year. and that competition involves drag racing/road racing/braking/100-150mph acceleration and some other misc stuff.

about the m3 roadster.

http://www.autofan.com/review.asp?ID=63
MSRP: $46,632.00
Engines: 3.2 liter Inline 6 24-Valves DOHC
Horsepower: 315hp @ 7400RPM
Torque: 251lb-ft. @ 4900RPM
Fuel Economy(City/Highway): 17/25 miles per gallon (Manual)

about the 03 z06 corvette

http://autos.yahoo.com/newcars/detai.../trim_overview
Retail Price: $51,295
5.7L V8, 16 Valve
405@6000rpm Horsepower
400@4800rpm Tourqe
redline: 6500
Fuel Economy Cty/Hwy: 19 / 28
Power To Weight Ratio 7.70
Final Drive Ratio 3.42 <--- image it with .373 gears. a loss of gas mileage but would be a hell of a lot faster
Curb Weight (Manual Transmission) 3118
Wheelbase 104.50
Where Built U.S.A.

thats great, faster, bigger engine, more horsepower/tourqe and better gas mileage. jesus christ it even gets better gas mileage in the city! HOW INEFFIECANT is this inline 6 cyclinder? holy ----. its DOHC 3.2l 6 cyclinders revs to 7400+rpm and gets worse gas milage? wow

1. I said BMW M3 you know, the M version of the 3 series.. not the M Roadster that is based off the crappy Z3. http://www.autofan.com/review.asp?ID=64

2. Go read up on the BMW M3 some more first, not the M Roadster, ok again NOT the M Roadster. The M3 is far more agile than the Corvettes.

3. The Z06 has more horsepower and better gas mileage, there was no arguement there.

4. Do you really want a run of the mill sports car? Corvettes are as common as Mustangs.

The Corvette is a SPORTS car, the M3 is a SPORT LUXURY car, you can't directly compare the two. My original post was in response to your question "name a inline engine powered car off the lot that has such a blend of performance, driveability, gas mileage, and style such as a new vette." And that's what I did.
Also if your soooooooo concerned about the minor gas mileage difference, I HIGHLY DOUBT you could afford either of these cars anyway.

Edit: Another thing I forgot to mention, don't always believe everything a manufacturer advertises on their website. You think the Z06's gas mileage is soo much better?
Z06 http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/compa...7/page008.html

M3 http://www.edmunds.com/new/2003/bmw/...alpage=page001 And this is for a HEAVIER M3 CONVERTIBLE.

Notice the observed fuel economy? Both cars were observed for 16 MPG.

not available in North America, but how about a Skyline GT-R.
with a chip change those suckers have like 400+hp w/ AWD and all the gizzmos you can imagine.

I would roll a z06 way before I got in a new m3...

The m3's do look nicer, and could probably get you more bitchs, but I like hauling ***.

is there any reason for you not liking them? or are you just anti american/anti capatalist or something?

i'd seriously like to see any proof that an M3 whatever would even stand a chance on a road course against a z06 vette. it wouldnt' even be close.

those skyline gtrs are pretty cool cars
its kinda hard to believe you could up the hp from 280 to 400 with just a chip... what does the chip do other than up the timing/boost maybe? i dunno

Skyline GT-R
Base Price: $89,500 <--- you could almost have a lingenfelter TT z06 vette that runs 9flat for that much.
Vehicle type: 2-door 2-passenger coupe: front-engine, all-wheel-drive

Powertrain:
2.6-liter DOHC 24-valve In-Line 6 twin-turbocharged with Intercooler
280 Horsepower @ 6800 rpm <-------
293 Ib-ft of Torque @ 4400 rpm
6-speed sequential transmission

Performance:
Acceleration 0-30 mph: 1.7 seconds
Acceleration 0-60 mph: 4.7 seconds
Acceleration 0-80 mph: N/A
Acceleration 0-100 mph: 12.7 seconds
1/4 mile: 13.7 seconds <------ pretty fast, gg AWD
Top Speed: 112 mph(Electronically Limited in Japan. Should be about 180mph if chip is taken off)

damn straight hah

z06 corvette = faster than nitro dragster. easy, all you have to do it add a bowtie sticker and you're set. BOOM 6 second car. just one sticker. image two.

found this on a corvette forum

"Went down to Carlsbad Raceway. Traction was the best I have seen yet at Carlsbad. I suspect maybe extra track prep due to the Outlaw brackets next week?
anyways...bout 60 degrees, a little windy, and extremely dead!

Made a string of 12.0-12.10's runs...but the best one was the 2nd run and looked like this:

Reaction.......604
60ft..............1.77 (On Drag Radials, New best)
330ft............5.015
1/8et............7.70
1/8mph.........92.69 (New Best in the 1/8 mph category)
1/4et.............11.92
1/4mph..........117.37

My Mods are the following: Vara Ram Intake, FLP's (with cats) and Drag Radials."

Care to look up the weight ratings for 89 CRX HFs and 98+ Camaros Z28s? I weigh HALF.

Figure I have right at 200 hp (crank) on tap off of 7 psi, which is a fair estimate for a fresh B18B. The Camaros have how much power again?

Do the math for yourself. Abort, retry, or fail?
