yeah i agree, making a car fast is more enjoyable than buying a fast one.

but why not talk ---- if you paid for the car?

Ok I'll help you guys end this bickering.

It is obvious that you can make more power and be more rewarded with a v8 powerplant. This doesn't mean a fast 4 cylinder isn't cool. What most of the guys with 4 cylinders like is when they do just happen to beat a v8. Its a thrill because you know your a competitor with what you or someone else has been able to accomplish with building your car.

The only race cars honda intended in the us market was the nsx and integra type r. The integra ls is not a sport's car......but when you make it into one....you better be sure as hell it is one. Most of the guys that spend time and money hoping up their civics aren't stupid for doing so. It wont be as fast as a modified v8, but thats not the true goal, and they probably spent a lot less in the meantime. Both kinds of cars are cool, v8's are capable of producing more power then 4 cylinders, so what.....I'll take my 12.5 second honda and my 13.8 second z28 and drive em both with the same love. Doesn't matter if i could make the camaro faster....it was more fun doing it to the civic. For some it might be for the camaro.....its all good.

Ok all good now?

I'm gonna have to call Bs on pulling an LS1 on the highway, unless you got a big turbo, he will smoke your *** top end.

What ru talking about the ls1 is all bottom end power bro.. The highway is our advantage..
The rwd factor is thrown out of the picture, the massive amount of low end torque as well.. both of which are the primary reason the car could still have the edge over us at the track..
As far as fun to drive factor... Come on there is no aguement there. Habe you ever tried to take a hair pin in a camaro.. Strait line are great, but your fuct when we approach the twisty bits.. Long live the 4 banger

ls1 engines do have top end too. what makes you think that a sbc cannot have top end? my camaro revs higher than my crx. seriously...

goto www.lingenfelter.com download the video of the LPE 383ci firebird. it passes everycar there with ease. around corners too.

the only reason you think 4 bangers can handle better is because they're going much slower into corners.

what about a DOHC v8, such as some of the new mustangs... is THAT GAY?

i guess having mad tourqe AND mad horpsepower is worse than no tourqe and waiting till 5k rpms to spool a massive turbine to make 300hp :/

ut o someone is pissed. hatin on his inline 4 cyclinder love

6 in a row won't go
4 in a row won't go

those are the old sayings.

i believe the new SVT supercharged mustangs are DOHC v8s.

they are pretty damn fast right out of the show room.

but z06 corvette OHV pushrod v8 ls6 engines are so perfectly engineered that you can get 405hp@6000rpm and still get 19/29 gas mileage. and run 12.4 out of the showroom.

name a inline engine powered car off the lot that has such a blend of performance, driveability, gas mileage, and style such as a new vette.

there is a reason the fastest dragsters in the world run big block v8 engines. if somehow having half the cyclinders and having them inline was so great, they would use them.

i know they dont have 405 horsepower....but i would much rather have a 97 supra TT (inline 6) than a corvette......and i am pretty sure it would easy to get them up to 405 horsepower since i have seen 700 hundred out of them.

BMW M3. 333HP 3.2L INLINE 6 cylinder.
Performance: Z06 will beat an M3 in a straight drag race. But it's a different story when it cones to a "twisty" race.
Driveability: M3.
Gas Mileage: Corvette.
Style: I would rather drive a stylish new BMW M3 instead of a new Corvette Z06 that looks like every other Corvette produced since 1997.

Whoa who ever said ne v8 was gay... Not gay, ineffiecent.. The fact is fords 4.6 or what ever it is dohc v8 and any other v8 are some of the most expansive engines out..

Essentailly a v8+ does indeed have much greater potential then ne inline 4 how ever do a cost/benefit analysis and there is no way the effeciency of a v8 would surpass that of most inline 4's.
