I'd bet the noise when he shifts is compressor surge b/c he more than likely has to let off the gas so the tranny can "catch", kinda like having 12psi on a stock clutch. Since the trucks don't have BOVs and he's letting off at the top of the rpm band, its gotta be compressor surge.
He lost a lot of ground everytime he shifted, imagine if he's tranny could handle WOT the whole way, hehe...
What a piece of crap tranny, it couldn't even handle 1500++FT./LBS of torque...
