a little clutch help pleazze :) and ball joints...

Well my old clutch was going bad and i didn't want to pay someone to install it for me. so i installed it myself.
it is the act xt00 with a streetlite flywheel. before i go too far, 95 civic dx, z6 swap.

the question that i have is:
when i had the old clutch, the pedal would travel a far distance before it would feel like it is even moving the clutch. how can i fix that? i tried to bleed the slave cylinder, but either i didnt bleed it right, or that just did not work. any other suggestions would be helpful.

oh also, i have to replave both lower ball joints. i do not have all the tools that a shop has, but i manage. there is a clip that secures them in place, would i have to remove the whole assembly to get out the lower ball joints or do you think it is possible to remove them while they are still on the car and put in the new ones? (my haynes manual says to take it to a dealer and have them replaced, i am trying to avoid this.)

Sometimes you have to bleed at all the connections. The master, the junction on the firewall and the slave. Second all you need to do ball joints is the correct socket and a hammer to get them loose. Make sure you get new cotter pins.

thanks for the tips on bleeding everything.. i never thought of that..

the ball joints, i have to remove them from the wheel assembly (the reason is they are old and when i used the ball joint seperater it tore the rubber boot). I have brand new joints to go in, but i am going to start hammering them out and see how it works from there.

crx2fast, when i read that you turn the cable i was like "yay, wait a minute... its a hydro clutch" But thanks for the help :)

I am going to go attempt to finish this up. hopefully everything goes a little better than before :)

i believe you can adjust it by adjusting the striking screw. Kinda like how u adjust the brake pedal. Look at the top of the clutch pedal arm for a screw/nut.

you need a second person to help you pump the clutch, unless you have one man bleeder, with the ball joint remove whole assembly, and use vise, or hydro press to remove and install them, safest easiest way...

Is your new clutch doing what your old one was doing or do you want your new clutch to work like your old one? I kind of thought the feel, pressure and engage point would change with a new clutch, so maybe what you're feeling is normal? ???
