Lincoln Welder Help...
 

hey guys i'm about to buy a welder today but i'm not sure which to get. I'm looking at either the lincoln 135T or 135P. The difference is that the 135p has a adjustable amp setting while the 135T has only presets. The price difference is $100. Do you think the 135T is good enough to do the welding of pipes and building a manifold?

I'm not going to be using this every week but at the same time i don't want to spend all that money just to find out that i can't weld the material i want to weld.

What materials are you trying to weld? Just be advised that everything adds up, argon cylinder, welding You should weigh in a lot of options when making a purchase this great. If this is a hobby tool that isn't going to see much use, you might want to invest in something more "economical" like a craftsman. Campbell Hausefed is a popular choice among the home made turbo crowd here. Do a search for "what welder to buy" we have covered all the topics in the past.

I would say go with the cheaper one, the extreme variable voltage you will only use for smaller welds, if you are going after total precision, drop a grand and hookup with a miller TIG welder with all the goodies.protection, sundries.

alright i'm just going to go with the 135t. It's only going to be used for steel, stainless, and aluminum. After 3 weeks of resarch i guess i'll go with the 135t, 2lbs bottle, and argon gas.

That is a nice machine, are you paying somewhere in the $500 range for it? I paid less then half for my welder. Then you will need to buy ---- like mask ~$40 (autodarkening), either a 20# or 40# cylinder of argon ~$100, fill on gas ~20 and other ----.

It will add up quickly. If you plan on welding anything else aside from mild steel, you'll need a diff cylinder to run another gas combo (sometimes 75% argon/25% co2 isn't ideal for metals outside mild steel).

Consider buying a TIG if you have the money to invest, will be about a grand for the machine and equipment (minus the gas cylinder).
