Lighest DSM?

I have about $1500 to work with here, and have found many local DSM's for really cheap and no engines/trannys, which I can get pretty cheap. What is the lightest DSM ever made? I've heard it was a 92ish Laser, but I'm not quite sure. I want to modify a lighter car, so I'm already a step ahead in the game. I found a laser in perfect condition with a locked up motor for $300, this is why I want to know. I can't pass up this deal, anyone that can help me, please do! ;D

Are they seriously that heavy? :o They must be a real big bitch on gas..

The local dealership has 3 DSM's in perfect condition for $300, and I mean perfect... I wish they did the same with Honda's >:(

Buy a 89-92 dodge colt, eagle summit, mitsubishi mirage. You can drop a 4g63t into them and they weigh very little. My 92 dodge colt with full interior and half tank of gas weighed 2160.You can find these cars for dirt cheap I picked up mine for $300.

Just import a Peugeot 205, weighs next to nothing; about 1900 lbs stock. Got my 1.4 8v down to 1675, without interior, with turbo setup.

;DMy longtime friend/mechanic bought one of these cars and its one of the stoutest around my area.Theres a total of 4 4g63t swapped colt/mirages around here and all are near sub 12 sec levels with over 115mph traps.Yea 1g dsms do weigh alot but with a minor diet it will be fine.My Tsi i'm estimating weighs roughly around 2400-2600 right now.I paid $100 for my shell and it had a few mods(fuel pump/shifter/weight savings)I say take it and start with a fresh motor. If you do it right its the best performance to dollar car.
