Switchgrass also can yeild MUCH more ethanol per acre than corn.

we can grow a lot more corn than we do, we have a production cap on our crops that the government put on duirring the 80's since we had just been producing so much food we ended up having to throw it in the ocean since no one would buy it because it would ruin their economy

Fine you know what we can grow that yields way more than corn? Sugar beets and sugar cane developed to need less light that grows slower, but it still grows. Half truths and whole lies, Johnny. With regards to performance... What do top performance guys run? Alky. Why do you think it takes so much energy to create ethanol? The main source of energy for the creation of ethanol is light, which is free. The only work comes from harvesting (which we are great at doing efficiently) and grinding/boiling the fermented mash. Yeast is cheap as ----. Heat to boil? Again wood for the small scale or hydroelectric/nuclear power for heating elements in larger operations. It's all feasible, it's just not something that will happen immediately but the start is already happening so.

torgan just so you know. Put the 22 gallons / acre of ethanol u can produce across the entire 302 million acres of harvested US land and you get 6.644 billion gallons of ethanol. Where as the US consumes 388.6 million gallons a day. Take out your 75% eocnomy penalty and the entire yearly supply of ethanol would last 12 days. Consiquently:

• We, and much of the world starve to death
  The economy crashes because food exports are the #1 US export
  We can only actually make at most 75% of the crop said simply from crop rotation. So make it an 8 day supply

The only plac in the world that could supply enough farming for our ethanol needs would be africa, which is a worse hell-hole than the middle east is. It would also turn into 50x the problem of the middle east.





so ethanol and ethanol's supporters are ------- stupid. it only works in brazil where they have a workable farm land VS fuel need equation.
