ethenol sucks only because they insist on using corn to distill it with, rather than other plants that have more bio mass and less melanine which takes extra processing to remove, of course the best crop for this is hemp but oh yea thats illegal.
check this out, methanol from hemp http://www.hemp4fuel.com/methanol.html

k, 1 ton of hemp bio mass can render 100 gallons of fuel, each acre of land can produce 10 tons of hemp in 4 months,
so thats like 3000 gallons of fuel per year for just one acre of farmland, you can do the math on how many acres of farmland exist in the country and all but i live next to kansas which has several hundred square miles (theres 680 acres in a square mile) of pure farmland, so sure we might not be able to supply our current demand, but we could make a big dent.

and those farmlands already do something else. are you suggesting we don't grow any food and focus on hemp
its always something kookie with you guys too. HEMP WILL SOLVE ALLLLLL OUR PROBLEMS!!!!

naw i think there will be several different fuels to solve the problem rather than a magic bullit per say, your right though we do use all of that land for other things but i think it should be looked into, of course though it won't
they have had 10% ethenol in our gas here for years, its odd because 89 octane is the same price as 91 but i had issues running it in my old hoopty truck, lol so i buy the terrorist made ---- anyway. :1

We grow a ton of feed corn to feed cows that we really don't need to feed. If we could ween ourselves off fast food and limit animal protein intake in general (keep in mind most people around the world do not have a "meat" with every meal or even every day) that frees up that much land for doing other things. Besides there's a ton of land that's "farmland" but in reality it's either grazing land for a small population of livestock or it's just sitting. For instance a friend of mine's grandma has a "family farm" which isn't really a farm anymore. It has a small breeding population of cattle that lives in there and isn't sold or slaughtered or anything. There's probably 20 animals on the 300 acres. This type of thing happens a lot. Sure there's a lot of "farmland" in the Shenandoah Valley... but how much of it is seriously being farmed? Not much I reckon.
edit: Btw I'm strongly for becoming more self sufficient.. even if that means buying a few acres, growing your own fuel crop, harvesting that ---- on the weekends off, and putting up some windmills to cut down on electric usage.

We should all buy GM vehicles because they get the best gas mileage. :1
