Leaving tuesday

Well, Tuesday May 23rd 2006 I'm leaving for Basic Training. MOS is 63B (Light Wheel Veh Mech). US Army. So I figure I'll have to do sometihng with that enlistment bonus, and what would be a better idea than wasting most of it in none-other-than a Honda :D When I get back, my ignorant ass will definately be post whoring this place up for help. See you guys in 6 months. Btw, Random-Strike, i know I'm just a n00b but I'm going to miss your narrowminded backwoods conservatism the most. Keep on Keeping on!

Actually, I'm not a blind patriot. Its more, my life was headed no where.. Failing out of college, no ambition and just wasting money. Needed new direction and more importantly- discipline. I understand the dangers of war and Bush eliteism, and I understood that from when my pen first touched the paper. I didn't enlist for the money or the nationalism, i did it for me and to better myself as only a soldier can.

Very good sentiment, it takes intestinal fortitude to sign up in a time of war.

Too bad Bush is now your 24 hour a day boss/babysitter. I wish you understood your "enlistement bonus" and how you won't have a dime of it in 6 months. :) Do me a favor and count how many times it's taxed, though. :)

Sounds like the guy in the recruiting office you went to could sell ice cubes to eskimos man. But I hope it works out for you Ive thought about joining the army a few times. But now I have a small child.

Oh, i do. $7k means 3500 when I get back. That 3500 is taxed. Then 2 years later i get half of that which is taxed. then 4 yrs, i get the other half. which is taxed. But its better than nothing, its just a bonus for doing something i wanted to do.

ACTUALLY. I never talked to a recruiter. I talked to my currently enlisted friends, which gave me the honest both negatives and positives. Decided, for me, the positives outwieghed the negatives and walked into the recruitment office and told him exactly what i wanted.

FOOK! you crack my ---- dude.

Your one crazy mo lol....Im not into people with guns pointing them at me....My biggest problem is fighting a war I dont believe in at all, but in your situation of trying to better yourself I give you two thumbs up for getting out there and being ballsy as hell....Good luck, be safe and shoot first, ask questions later....Even if you got in trouble for shooting some innocent guy, at least he didnt shoot you right? Jail is better than death

Although... 3 meals a day... and i wont have to pay for sex anymore ;p Thanks for the kind words bro. And i dont believe in the war either, but i do believe in what the Army can do for people. war is just going to be my catalyst for maturity.

RS, pardon my ignorance, but whats pit ting ?

Good for you trying to better yourself.

i personally would never join the army, but I would like to be a recuiting officer, go to these ------' bums and get them off the street. I'll promise them each that Bush will personally give them each a blowjob, I think that'll work.

Good luck son.

Re: Leaving tuesday

good to see you chose a more usefull MOS that will help you in the civilian world. I was a 45t bradley turret mechanic, transformed to 63m bradley systems mechanic. I wanted to reclass to 63b but because I aleady reenlisted, once they would not let me reclass so I said ---- you and signed a deck statement, saying I wont reinlist if I dont get what I want. so I got out, and now thinking of getting back in.
its sad that a grunt gets a bigger bonus to join or reinlist in the army than someone with some brains that actually make a unit sucseed in combat, especially in a mechanised infantry unit, where if your vehicle dont work you lost the battle.
just my rant
but good look on your choice, it was a good choice, even though we do the same thing, your mos is recognised outside the army. good look and hope you dont get stationed in the 1st ID we are on there way back to the desert.
