Me niether, or other PCs I've seen running XP on sata drives.

xp supports SATA drivers no problem. It couldn't find your drive because you need to download chipset drivers for the sata controller so that XP can use it.
Glad that resetting to default settings worked out for you. Let me know if you run into anymore PC problems.
