Lack of knowledge

It really amazes me how some people who are extremely interested in cars, really don't know ---- about them. Last night i went into worcester to cruise the strip for a little bit and say hi to a couple friends. So i park so i could talk to some people for a bit, and these kids who i know of come over, and one of them is like "aw what kinda turbo is that yo", and i'm like it's a garrett T3 60 trim, and then the kid is like oh, greddy turbos are better, and i'm like, umm i believe greddy uses mitsubishi turbos in their kits....

then this other kid comes up to me and is like " is it stage 1 or stage 2", seriously who/what ever started this whole stage 1,2,3 bullshit, i'd like to kill in the face. Sure it's nice for factory performance kits like the mopar ones you can get for the SRT 4, but then everyone who thinks they know a thing or 2 about cars believes that turbos come in stages. It was at that point that i realized that 80 percent of the people in that parking lot (and on the whole street for that matter) grew up on the fast and the furious and think they're living the lifestyle by drooling over the cars that true enthusiasts create.

so i left before would start contemplating suicide. Just my little rant.

I just like when we were at a local lot hanging out, this one guy had a turbo probe and popped the hood.. one kid points at the intake manifold and keeps talking about how it is the intercooler and what it does :P (intake manifold said "intercooled" on it so that must make it the intercooler, right?) ::)

yeah i got flamed on here by a bunch of HMTers when i gave that 'Stage 1,2,3' ---- the middle finger. i'm young but i'm ------- old school. i've been on HMT before Stealthmode even! anyways, it appears that nowadays you can buy stage 1, 2 or 3 wheel trims. because stupid ricers dont understand P trim, Q trim and S trim compressor wheels.

Seriously, i've only seen this Stage ---- in marketing after Gran Turismo and F&F. Saying all that Stage ---- is all rice talk to me.

the best is i ran up on another civic back in the day at the local cumberland farms and i asked him what he was running and he popped his hood and pointed to his iceman air intake and said " im running cold air". i just stared at him and got in the car and left, very confused

yeah he would have been totally lost, total tool. But seriously, greddy uses mitsubishi turbochargers in most of their kits correct? and don't actually make their own turbo's. Not to mention garrett probably makes 80 percent of turbos on the market....

Although after that i was like, where's your turbo civic again? ;D

I got into an arguement with someone one time and they accused me of lying about what stage my turbo kit was. I said stages was for actors, AR's trims and specs are for people who know what they're talking about.

it's also nice to roll up the tinted windows, lock the doors, and marvel at all the white trash like you're out on an african safari. Some of the ---- (cars, and people) in that city amaze me.

Re: Lack of knowledge

about time somebody asked the question. i used to think i was retarded becasue people would ask me what stage my kit was and i had no clue. civic's didn't come with a turbo so i guess i am stageless :'(. well my stageless 48/60 is good enough for me. i just ope a guy with a stage doesn't roll up on me ::).

they say the same ---- for clutches too. i've been asked what stage my clutch is. i just tell them it's stock. it is a ACT HD pressure plate with street disk, stock right?

ibby 08-20-2005 07:31 PM

Re: Lack of knowledge

I think the majority of car-liking kids are like that. Last week I was in a local wendys parking lot with my buddys ion redline (supercharged) and this kid comes up and is like "yo is that the new turbo saturn?? You wanna get smoked by my boyyy? Hes got a turbo gti on 22 psi" I just told him that means nothing considering the turbo he is sporting is about equal to the size of my fist. Its fun to ---- with them, although it does get very annoying since most kids are really that stupid

J-MAN 08-20-2005 07:56 PM

Re: Lack of knowledge

yeah that is sooooo true. those kind are all over here in my area, they don't care about the size of the turbo but how many psi ::)

Re: Lack of knowledge

you know what pisses me off? when people think the km/po is hpw fast the actual car goes. one time i asked someone with an eclipse what they wound it out to. he said about 200. i was like.. wow , you musta spent 30 grand on it just to break 180. he said... no no no it goes to 220 or something he said. he said it goes that fast from the factory. o looked at him strange. looked inside the car. i told him that that isnt the miles per hour. thats kilometers per hour. the spedo read upto 150. he insisted that i was wrong.
