Basically, when someone trades a car in they get wholesale value minus 25% no matter what. thats called actual cash value (acv). Now, car's that have over 50k miles they can't sell theme in there lot. Most franchise dealers can't by law. Then those are sent to the auctions. Before they are sent to the auctions they have to invest money to fix any damage up and pay fees and transport cost. Thats why you will pay more at the auctions. Sometimes even 2g's more. There are only so many dealers that can acutally buy cars from franchise, you have to have a good relationship plus you have to be known by a manager and be in business for quite a while.

Ah, I see. Now when you say franchise, what do you mean by that, is that a company? Is that like the parent company ? (Honda of America, for example?)

well I'm talkin' about other auctions whether they be salvage auctions or what have you.

I met a guy that buys cars from these auctions, he got an 92 EH for like 600. He just fixes them and sells them. I was gonna buy a 90 Hatch from him, but lost his number. All I know is that these auctions are dealer only auctions.
