Know anything about Nissan VG30DE swap into Pathfinder

Looking for advice.

I have a 92 Pathfinder with the stock VG30ethat is knocking and losing power. I have been looking for a good quality replacement engine with more power.

There is a '97 Infiniti J30 that has been T-boned for sale locally for $700. It runs and drives well. It has the same VG30DE engine as the 90-96 300ZX.

I don't forsee any problems physically getting it in the truck. The engine mounts should swap, tranny bolt up, intake manifold switch over, etc. I know the heads are wider, but nothing a BFH and sawzall can't fix.

My concerns are about the wiring harness and ecu. The obvious difference is the pathfinder uses a distributor, while the J30 vg30de uses coilpacks. I think they use different generation OBD, as well.

Is there going to be a realitively easy solution? I'm going to have both complete cars. Use stock vg30e wiring harness and chipped ecu? Alter wiring harness? Distributer fit?, or use coil packs? Please help me out with any FAQ links you might have: ECU chipping, wiring harness diagrams, cross compatability, etc.

Sorry, I have not done more research before asking questions. I don't want to buy a $700 car, and not be able to use it, but I also don't want to let a decent deal on a hard to find engine slip thru my fingers. Thanks for any help.

the only probelms with duall cams is the ignition wiring is different. i would just get a pinout and hard wire the ignition and make sure the ecu for the e will work with your new engine. motor mounts, flywheel and all that stuff should be no problem. i would do a seach in a pathfinder forum too just to get more aquaintd with the swap. should be an easy swap tho.

I'm going to buy it. 210 hp,193 tq stock. Vs pathfinder 160/175

It's the same head and block as the VG30DETT. The DETT does have lower compression pistons and oil squirters. The dett manifolds and tiny t25s wont fit in the Path, anyways. Besides, DETT engines cost like $1500, with harness and ecu $2000. Which car you think gets raped on harder? 4door auto J30 luxo-barge, or 300ZX?

I have definitely thought about big single turbo, flipped headers front mount HMT steez. :6

Woot woot. I'm tempted to swap in the heated leather seats and bose cd/tape 6 speaker system. O0

Find ECU plug pictures and pinouts for 90-94 cars. You'll want to run the correct ECU for the engine.

Choe has a NA 300ZX, something around a 92-93, wrecked pretty hard in the ass end. He told me $300 for engine and I'm ASSuming that includes wiring and ECU. MAF is gone already, everything else is there. I'm pretty sure it's an I-pull-it price. 90-94 300ZX is EPROM ECU, and Mike Robichuad writes a nifty little program for editing the .bins.
