Actually, Subaru sold some of the Sambar Kombis with that paint scheme and front end... they came that way right from the factory, but without the VW emblem of course.

Yeah, I own one. It's a '90 Sambar non-supercharged, 5+L 4x4. When it's working properly it goes like 70 MPH, but my clutch is slipping right now because I beat the everliving ---- out of it.
